The Most Bizarre Things You Can Do at Disney World

You might be surprised by some of the activities you’ll find in Disney World!

The Seas With Nemo & Friends

There are TONS of things to do in Disney World. You may be familiar with options like riding awesome attractions, checking out incredible shows, and, of course, enjoying ALLLL the snacksBut not every Disney World activity is so well-known. Have you had a chance to check out these bizarre things you can do in Disney World??

We’ll note in the post as we go through each item, but some of these experiences are still unavailable at this time.

Get a Haircut

If getting a haircut is typically on your pre-vacation to-do list, you might want to hold off before your next visit. Did you know that Disney World offers haircuts INSIDE their most iconic park?? And — wait for it — they’re shockingly affordable.

What a beautiful day in Magic Kingdom!

That’s right, Magic Kingdom’s Harmony Barber Shop is located right on Main Street, U.S.A.!

Barber Shop on Main Street, U.S.A.

As of right now, the Barber Shop still hasn’t reopened following the park closure. But when they are open, they offer haircuts for guests of all ages! Kid haircuts start at $18 and adult haircuts start at $19. They can’t shampoo your hair or blow it out for you — the name of the game is speed here — but they do a pretty nice job! If you’re looking for more advanced services beyond a simple trim, maybe save it for your stylist back home.

In fact, many guests like to plan their kiddo’s first haircut at Harmony Barber Shop. Guests can purchase a “My First Haircut” package that includes a commemorative Mickey Ear Hat, a keepsake lock of hair, and an official milestone certificate for a little extra pixie dust! All this will set you back just $25! Considering the cost of the ears alone, this is a downright STEAL!

Go Surfing

Ready to hang ten?? Even though Disney World is located in Central Florida, you can still go surfing even without the ocean nearby!

Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool ©Disney

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon typically offers surfing lessons in the wave pool! Lessons typically last about 3 hours before the park opens and costs $199, when offered.

Typhoon Lagoon

Typhoon Lagoon is still closed at the moment (although Disney’s Blizzard Beach has reopened!) but we’ll keep an eye out for news on its reopening for all you future surfers out there!

Dine at a Drive-In Theater

Feeling nostalgic for the good old days of drive-in movies? Well, Disney’s Hollywood Studios has you covered!

Hollywood Studios

This park is home to Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant, which treats guests to a totally unique dining experience!

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater

Guests are seated inside a “car” for their meal. And, of course, there’s a show to go along with it! A large projector screen at the front of the restaurant shows clips from mid-century sci-fi movies, cartoons, TV shows, and more for guests to enjoy while they eat! There’s even a few clips of Walt Disney himself in there!

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater

If you’ve got a taste for super unique dining experiences — or retro B-movies — Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater might just deserve a spot at the top of your Disney World to-do list!

Go SCUBA Diving

Have you ever wanted to get a closer look at the fish in the HUGE aquarium at EPCOT’s The Seas With Nemo & Friends Pavilion? Well then, this one’s for you!

Hello, Mickey!

SCUBA-certified guests can take the plunge with EPCOT Seas Adventure — DiveQuest. This 3-hour tour includes a backstage look at the aquarium infrastructure, as well as a 40-minute dive in the tank with over 6,000 sea creatures!

EPCOT

This tour is still temporarily unavailable following the park closure. But when it is available, it’s a great way for guests to get an up-close-and-personal look at the big blue world! The cost is typically $179.

Whatever You Do, DON’T Listen to These Disney World Tips!

Go Fishing

Looking for a relaxing activity for your resort day? Several of the Disney World Resort hotels offer guided fishing excursions out on the various lakes and lagoons around property!

Fishing at Wilderness Lodge

All of the fishing excursions include an experienced guide, rod and reel, tackle, bait, and non-alcoholic beverages for guests to enjoy. Currently, 9 different resorts offer these guided excursions.

Caribbean Beach Resort

And if you’d prefer to stay on dry land while you fish, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside also typically offers dockside fishing. Something to keep in mind for when they reopen later this year!

Ride in an Amphicar

Sticking with the theme of aquatic activities, guests can also take a cruise around the waters of Disney Springs in a VERY unique form of transportation…a vintage Amphicar!

Amphicar

Amphicar tours launch near The BOATHOUSE in Disney Springs, and they offer guests a 20-minute captain-guided cruise around the waters of Disney Springs.

Ride an Amphicar on the Water

Vintage Amphicars are SUPER rare so this is an activity that’s fairly surprising to find anywhere. If you’re a vintage car buff, you won’t want to miss it! It costs $125 per car and can hold 3-4 guests. Right now, guests dining at the Boathouse or buying items in the adjacent gift shop that spend over $50 will automatically get a $25 credit for an Amphicar ride too!

Surprising Things You Won’t Find in Disney World Hotel Rooms

See The Presidential Seal

There’s only one place outside The White House that’s home to the official Presidential Seal. And that place is, you guessed it, Disney World!

Hall of Presidents

You can spot the Presidential Seal inside The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom before entering the show room!

Night Time Safari

To experience an African safari, you usually have to…well, go to Africa! But luckily, Disney has captured this experience and you don’t have to travel to another continent to see some of the most majestic creatures of our planet up close. But did you know that there is an exclusive Night Time Safari experience at Animal Kingdom Lodge?

View Outside on the Sunset Savanna

This tour is still temporarily unavailable following the park closure. But upon return, guests can book an exclusive nighttime tour of the savanna around Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village. Provided with night vision binoculars, you’ll get a chance to see these beautiful animals like never before! The tour lasts about an hour and costs the oddly specific price of $74.17 per guest ages 8 and older.

Buy a Samurai Sword

At Mitsukoshi Department Store in EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion, you can find tons of super unique souvenirs, and that usually includes samurai swords!

Merchandise in Mitsukoshi

Guests aren’t allowed to bring weapons into the parks, so it might be surprising to spot a sword for sale! But there is a catch…if you do purchase a sword, it will be sent to the front of the park for you to take with you as you leave. Sorry guys, no demonstrating your sweet sword skills in the middle of World Showcase! 😂

Which Would You Choose?

While the samurai swords might be one of the most surprising things you’ll find in Mitsukoshi, this just scratches the surface of the unique merchandise available there. From Japanese incense to traditional tea cup sets, candies, and even kimonos and sandals, if you’re looking for a cool, non-Disney souvenir to remember your time in the parks, this store is a must-do!

Do YOU Know the Prices of These Obscure EPCOT Items?

There are plenty of ultra-popular and well-known activities to experience around Disney World. But if you’re looking to switch it up and try something a little more under-the-radar, this just goes to show that you can find some unexpected things around the parks and resorts too! And Disney is always adding more experiences to the parks, so the list of potential adventures never ends! So, which of these things just made your Disney World bucket list??
