We see construction around the parks and hotels pretty often in Disney World.
Since Disney is constantly updating and refurbishing the hotels, attractions, and rides, sometimes they can be shut down or at least partially closed for a bit. We’re looking at what’s going to be CLOSED for refurbishments this week in Disney World so that you can be prepared before your upcoming vacation.
Right now the only park with scheduled closings for next week is Magic Kingdom. Although you’ll see some construction around other parks (like at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios or in DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom), the construction isn’t interfering with the rides themselves, which means they’ll keep running.
Magic Kingdom
We have very exciting news about Magic Kingdom’s refurbishments: the Main Street Confectionery is going to reopen this coming week!
The grand reopening is set for Wednesday, September 29th. On that day, you’ll be able to head inside to check out the updates to the interior and buy some sweet treats!
We got a hint that this was coming when all the construction walls around the sweets shop came down a little while ago, and now we can’t wait to go back inside.
Unfortunately, one attraction will remain closed in the Magic Kingdom next week — the Walt Disney World Railroad.
TRON Lightcycle Run construction over in Tomorrowland interfered with the train tracks, so the train can’t run until the tracks are back to normal.
Since TRON doesn’t have a reopening date yet, we’re not sure when the WDW Railroad will be back either.
Disney World Hotels
We’ve got some updates with a few different hotels around Disney World as well. Disney’s All-Star Music Resort reopened last week, although there weren’t many guests there for its return!
We stayed at the hotel to check out any updates, so you can see photos of the resort’s reopening here!

Disney’s All-Star Movies is also on the list of refurbishments because it’s getting some updates to the hotel’s lobby. You’ll see some construction walls up in the lobby area, but guests can continue to check in there like normal.
Or, if you prefer, you can check-in via the My Disney Experience app and then head straight to your room to start your vacation!
Turns out ALL the All-Star hotels have refurbishments news this week! Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort was supposed to open on December 9th of this year, but its reopening has been delayed indefinitely.
Disney Cast Members have said that the delay is so that they can refresh the Sports themed area at the resort.
If you’ve got reservations at All-Star Sports, Disney will reach out via email to let you know about the change. You’ll be able to modify your hotel plans at no additional charge to you.
Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside and Port Orleans – French Quarter are still set to reopen as planned. Riverside will reopen on October 14th, and French Quarter will reopen on October 28th.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort is undergoing a big refurbishment right now, with both the rooms and lobby getting a makeover. The rooms will have a new Incredibles theme when they’re finished.
The lobby is closed right now, and guests will be asked to visit the second floor for check-in and concierge services. The lobby refurbishment is expected to last through late September.
The Wave…of American Flavors is getting a BIG makeover and being reimagined as Steakhouse 71. This new restaurant will open in the Contemporary (where the Wave used to be) on October 1st.
We’ve taken a look at the concept art, lounge, and menus for this spot, and we can’t wait to try it out. Reservations for Steakhouse 71 are open now, so grab your spot soon!
Disney’s Old Key West Resort and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort are both getting updates to their lobbies as well.
The Old Key West lobby is expected to be under construction through late September of this year, and the Saratoga Springs lobby will be getting updates through late October.
Cast Members will direct you to a temporary check-in location, or you can use the My Disney Experience app to check in and go straight to your room.
That’s all for our refurbishment update this week! Keep following DFB to see the latest Disney news.
