What’s New at Magic Kingdom: A Splash Mountain Evacuation and 2 Iconic Snack Spots Reopen

Hello, DFB friends! We’re here for more of what’s new at Magic Kingdom, and there’s a LOT.

Cinderella Castle

With the 50th anniversary only a few days away, we have a LOT of updates from Magic Kingdom!

Magic Kingdom Food Updates

Main Street Confectionery

Main Street Confectionery reopened a day early! Now the home of Mars Candy Treats, you will find a totally remodeled interior and all your favorite sweet treats inside, as well as a new customizable popcorn station!

Main Street Confectionery

Guests can also mix and match colorful Mars Candy in the “Color Kitchen,” and you can even watch fresh cotton candy being made.

So Much Popcorn!

This fan-favorite sweets shop has been closed since March 2021, so we’re excited to see it return to Main Street, U.S.A..

Come with us inside the reopened Main Street Confectionery!

Cheshire Cafe

Cheshire Cafe is now serving Pepper Jack Pretzels, which is a soft pretzel stuffed with creamy pepper jack cheese. You can snack on this spicy treat for $6.59.

Cheshire Cat Menu

Grab yourself a Cheshire Cat Tail and a Pepper Jack Pretzel and snack to your heart’s content!

Read our review of the Pepper Jack Pretzel here!

Closed Locations

We noticed that both Cool Ship in Tomorrowland and Prince Eric’s Village Market in Fantasyland were closed. Cool Ship serves cold drinks and churros…

Cool Ship Closed

…and Prince Eric’s is home to turkey legs, jumbo soft pretzels, and the famous Mermaid Slushy.

Prince Eric’s Was Closed

We aren’t sure why these spots are closed or when they’ll reopen, but we’ll be watching closely for updates.

Read our review of the Mermaid Slushy here!

Spring Roll Cart

And the Spring Roll Cart is OPEN!! After being closed for over two weeks, we can finally snack on a Cheeseburger Spring Roll again.

It’s back!

The menu is still the same, with 2 Cheeseburger Spring Rolls or 2 Buffalo Chicken Spring Rolls for $9.50. Or you can get one of each for the same price!

Read more about the Spring Roll Cart reopening here!

Magic Kingdom Construction Updates

Entrance

At the entrance to Magic Kingdom, below the Main Street Train Station, a gold 50th anniversary decoration was added to the bushes in front.

Magic Kingdom Entrance

With Disney World’s 50th anniversary only days away, we’ll be keeping a close eye out for even more 50th anniversary decor added to the parks!

You won’t find these 50th anniversary decorations in the parks!

Main Street, U.S.A.

Main Street Cinema has closed to set up for the Vault Collection, a new 50th anniversary merchandise collection. This collection will feature a retro-inspired overlay along with pieces of Disney World history in the form of vintage photos, colors, and details.

We can’t wait to peek behind that curtain!

There will also be backdrops and props for photos, so this might be a really unique shopping experience! Some retro photos are already on display and we can’t wait to see the final look.

See more photos of Main Street Cinema here!

Cinderella Castle

The Cinderella Castle stage is being updated with 50th Magical Celebration flooring. It’s still a work in progress, but for now, we can see the EARidescent 50th castle logo on a blue background.

It’s looking good!

Maybe we’ll get to see some Disney World characters in their 50th anniversary costumes on stage?!

Here are more photos of the new 50th anniversary castle stage!

PhotoPass Signs

We noticed that Nikon Picture spots throughout Magic Kingdom were either missing or new and without the Nikon logo. The new signs say “Photo Spot Sponsored by Disney PhotoPass,” and they mark ideal locations for photos around Disney Parks.

New Photo Spot Sign

We’ll be watching for more news and photo spot updates.

Read more about Disney World’s PhotoPass Service here!

Fantasyland

At Ariel’s Grotto, where guests can meet with the little mermaid herself, we noticed that the sign was replaced. The sign was removed back in July, and the infamous announcer seahorse from The Little Mermaid is back. Below the top of the sign that displays Ariel’s Grotto, Disney has added “Meet the Little Mermaid.”

Sign

At Princess Fantasy Hall, the FastPass+ signs have been painted over. There is no Lightning Lane sign yet, but we can guess that they’re probably preparing to update the sign.

Princess Fairytale Hall Sign

And the ground flooring in front of “it’s a small world” has been scored, likely because Disney is preparing to change it. We’ll be watching for changes as they progress on this project!

Ground Scoring

The interior of “it’s a small world” has also been updated recently too, so we’re excited to see what could happen outside the ride too.

See photos of “it’s a small world” repainted here!

Storybook Circus

Over at Dumbo, we saw that Timothy Q. Mouse was missing from the top of the Believe and Soar sign. He usually perches right on top of the sign, and now he’s nowhere to be found.

Timothy has gone AWOL

And the yellow tent in Storybook Circus has reopened after being repainted. This spot is located next to Pete’s Silly Side Show, and it can actually be a great spot to take a break and charge your phone.

Storybook Circus

FuelRod Stations have been removed from the tent, but there are now plenty of outlets and seating so you can rest while charging your device. This spot isn’t well known, so you might be able to escape the crowd too!

Check out more photos of this hidden spot here!

Monorail

The Monorail outside of Magic Kingdom now has loading zones, so Cast Members may direct you to certain Monorail doors.

New Monorail Loading Zones

Whether this will impact crowds in a significant way remains to be seen, but we’ll be watching closely.

Here’s why you should skip the Monorail on your next Magic Kingdom trip!l

Ferry Boat

There has also been a third Ferry Boat ramp added outside of Magic Kingdom, which means they may be preparing for the increase in crowds for the 50th anniversary.

New Ferry Boat Ramp

The 50th anniversary will likely see a big surge in crowds, so a third Ferry Boat would probably make transportation a bit faster!

Here’s why you should take the bus from TTC to Magic Kingdom!

In Emporium, we saw even MORE 50th anniversary merchandise added, like this white 50th Anniversary Photo Album for $24.99.

Over the weekend, Splash Mountain was evacuated due to technical difficulties, and Cast Members passed out Fast Passes and water bottles to guests in line.

Sometimes ride evacuations happen in Disney World, and Disney basically has the evacuation process down to a science.
