After over a year, Disney Cruise Line is sailing again. The Disney Dream, Disney Wonder, and Disney Fantasy have once more taken to the open seas.
Guests going on cruises, though, will notice that some things have changed onboard due to the global health crisis, including updates that have been made to dining and character experiences. Now, a new policy change has been made when it comes to unvaccinated children.
According to Disney Cruise Line’s current policy, all guests 12 and over must show proof of vaccination before setting sail on one of its ships. Guests must also take a COVID-19 test upon embarkation. Guests 11 years old and under are not required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as the vaccine has not yet been approved for them. But, guests ages 11 and under must take a pre-trip COVID-19 test, as well as a test upon embarkation.
Now, Disney has updated its rules for unvaccinated children when it comes to disembarking at ports of call.
According to new language on the Disney Cruise Line website, guests who are fully vaccinated can disembark the ship while in a port of call without needing to purchase a Disney Cruise Line Port Adventure. Guests with unvaccinated children who wish to disembark the ship at a port of call, however, will have to buy a Disney Cruise Line Port Adventure.
Disney Cruise Line Port Adventures are shore excursions that have specifically been selected by Disney Cruise Line. They can be reserved online or through the Disney Cruise Line navigator app before setting sail, or you can chat with a Cast Member through the app or in person once on the cruise to arrange a Port Adventure.
Keep in mind that cruise line policies can change often. Be sure to check on the Disney Cruise Line website for the latest updates ahead of your cruise. We’ll also be on the lookout for any changes and we’ll let you know what we find.
