FINALLY! 🚨 Mickey Beignets Are BACK in Disney World!

Disney snacks are our passion, and since Disney World reopened last year, we’ve been happily rediscovering some of our favorites.

Disney’s Port Orleans -French Quarter Resort

Speaking of reopening, Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter Resort finally reopened today, so we’re heading in to check out what’s different about this fan-favorite resort. And along the way, we snagged one of the best iconic Disney snacks around.

Did you put it together already? Port Orleans…iconic Disney snack…yes, it’s the Mickey Beignets! These delicious treats are back at Scat Cat’s Club Cafe at Port Orleans – French Quarter. So, of course, we went in for a powdered sugar-covered reunion.

There are a few different options for beignets on the menu here, including 3 or 6 Mickey-shaped Beignets, some specialty beignets, a Mickey-shaped Beignet sundae, and — for those looking for a boozy option — the Baton Rouge Beignets.

Scat Cat’s Club Cafe Menu

We grabbed some Mickey Beignets (obviously) and also the Baton Rouge Beignets, since those have been some of our favorites in the past. Aaaaand we might have ordered a Mickey-shaped Beignet Sundae as well. It’s never too early for ice cream-topped beignets, is it?

We’ve got the treats!

The three Mickey Beignets were $6.99 total, and the Baton Rouge Beignets (which come with pipettes filled with your choice of Bailey’s Irish Cream, Kahlua, or RumChata) were $10.99. (We went back for the sundae after our beignet appetizers.) The Mickey Beignets were freshly fried, and they came out very hot.

YUM

The beignets came with one dipping sauce, and you can choose between salted caramel, strawberry, or chicory chocolate ganache. We went with the chocolate ganache.

We cannot wait.

In classic beignet style, they’re LOADED with powdered sugar.

Is that enough sugar? We’re not sure.

The beignets themselves were very soft, but ours were really cake-like and doughy this time.

We <3 Mickey Beignets

Usually, the inside is pretty hollow, but these ones weren’t like the beignets we’ve had in the past. We’re assuming that the chefs are still training or maybe just getting back into the swing of things after being away so long, because these aren’t the same as what we’ve had before.

A little too cakey

Even though they were not super beignet-y (too full of dough), they were still very soft and tasty. A fried donut caked in powdered sugar is hard to mess up, after all. They were very heavy, though, so you probably will want to share these with a friend!

That’s not usually what beignets look like

The powdered sugar does go everywhere, though! So keep that in mind, and try not to breathe out through your nose while you’re taking a bite, or you might end up with powdered sugar all over you. 😂

Next up, we tried out the Baton Rouge Beignets.

Boozy Beignets

Like we mentioned before, we’ve really enjoyed these in the past. So do they still measure up to our expectations?

Yum!!

The short answer? YES. These come as square beignets instead of Mickey-shaped ones, but the pipettes are full of the alcohol of your choice (we went with Bailey’s Irish Cream), so they’re still “jazzed” up. (Get it?) The beignets soak up most of the alcohol when you pipe it in, but if you don’t eat it quick the liquid will start to drip out.

Boozy Beignets

Our advice is to let the beignets cool for just a bit before you pipe in the liquid. And if you want a coffee-and-donuts-vibe, go with the Kahlua instead!

The liquid might pour out if they’re too hot

When we returned for the sundae, there was a bit of a line in Scat Cat’s.

A bit of a line

So the Cast Members took guests’ orders in line and then gave us a number so we would know when our order was ready. The Mickey-shaped Beignet Sundae is $8.49, and it came with Mickey beignets, vanilla ice cream, and your choice of chocolate or caramel sauce.

Mickey beignet sundae

The sign mentioned whipped cream, but ours didn’t have any on top (and we weren’t offered it as an option).

Still looks delicious

The sundae has three Mickey-shaped beignets around the ice cream, and we thought the vanilla ice cream was a great complement to the plain dough of the beignet.

Delicious!

The caramel sauce on top also helped to soften the beignets a little, so the textures all worked well together. The beignets are still served hot, which was a great contrast to the ice cream as well. But be aware that the ice cream melts quick, since the beignets and caramel sauce are both served hot. So it’ll get messy fast.

It’ll get messy!

You get a big portion (three beignets plus a few scoops of ice cream), so it’s definitely a shareable dessert! Some of these beignets were cakey, like the Mickey beignets, but others were more hollow (which is more like the ones we’ve had here in the past).

Some of these were more hollow

If you’re looking for a decadent dessert for breakfast, we definitely recommend this sundae. And if you want to get creative, you can turn it into a beignet ice cream sandwich!

In general, we think the return of the Mickey Beignets is a success, although there appear to be a few kinks to work out with the recipe. We’re hoping the airy beignets we know and love from before will return, but we’re definitely not mad about these ones for now.
