Although Star Wars fans were pretty excited when Disney World first announced the Star Wars Hotel, aka the Galactic Starcruiser, some of that enthusiasm dropped a bit when Disney revealed the prices for the hotel.

Granted, it isn’t really a hotel at all, but a two-night immersive experience that puts guests in the middle of the action in their own Star Wars adventure. But the cost — nearly $5,000 for two people — was a shocker for many! But what if you’re a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Member? You can opt to pay for your stay with points. What’s the cost for you? Well, we’ve got some good news and some not-so-good news… .

Hold on to your points, DVCers. It’s a LOT.

The good news is that Disney has released the official Points Chart for the Galactic Starcruiser. (Sorry, guess the “good news” isn’t that good compared to this next part!) The not-so-good news is that stays at the interactive hotel-meets-experience START at 295 points for two nights PER adult in a standard cabin!!! And that’s for an occupancy of five. To put that into perspective, a stay at Disney’s Riviera Resort for DVC Members costs around 14 points per night.

The points cost is dependent on the date of the stay, as well as whether it’s on a weekday or weekend. For other cabin classes, the points cost is even higher. A Galaxy Suite with an occupancy of 4 starts at 359 points per adult.

And for those DVC Members who want a Grand Captain’s Suite, that will set you back a minimum of 502 points per adult. To put this into a bit of perspective, to rent a Bora Bora Bungalow at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at CHRISTMAS costs around 1450 points for a WEEK. And that sleeps 8 people. That’s still WAY less per person for 8 people for a WEEK on the busiest week of the year at Disney World. So yes, it’s a lot of money (err..points.)!

Yes, this is about as shocking as the cost for everything else (not to mention the cost of additional experiences AT the hotel), but many Star Wars fans are going to be scrambling to get reservations for this highly-anticipated experience, which opens on March 1st, 2022. Where else will they get to indulge in their own Star Wars adventures, help fly an actual spaceship while working on the bridge, and train with lightsabers? So in the end, you’ll have to ask yourself if it’s worth it.
