Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is a super popular place in Disney World!
Located over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, this interactive bar has a lively atmosphere and fun tiki drinks. Many of those tiki drinks come in amazing mugs, and Trader Sam’s releases new mugs occasionally for people to add to their collections! Yesterday, we told you about a new tiki mug that was set to be released, and today, we have a look at the actual tiki mug AND we tasted the drinks that come with it!
Say hello to the Missing Cargo tiki mug! This is inspired by the Jungle Cruise ride, and we have previously seen a similar design sold over in Disneyland (where it sold out FAST!).
We purchased our mug yesterday, and we’re here to tell you all about how you can buy one, too! In order to buy a mug yesterday, guests have to get a wristband. Wristbands are available at the entrances of Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto before it opens. For example, we got our wristband yesterday morning.
The wristband means you can buy up to 2 mugs. Yesterday’s wristbands were green, but we were told by Cast Members that they would be a different color today. Once Trader Sam’s opened at 3PM yesterday, we were able to purchase the mug.
If you want to buy this tiki mug though, you also have to purchase the special tiki drink that comes with the mug. You can’t just buy the mug without buying the drink! But, if you don’t drink alcohol, don’t worry — there is a non-alcoholic option that goes along with this mug, too!
The alcoholic drink shares the same name as the mug — the Missing Cargo. This drink is $15 and is VERY boozy. It was a tropical-flavored drink, but it also had an incredibly strong licorice flavor, which we were not a fan of. If you like licorice, this will probably be your jam, but if you don’t, this is NOT your drink!
The non-alcoholic drink is the Jungle Jaguar and it tastes like fruit punch, but more tart. It’s also suuuuper sweet. This one is $15, just like the Missing Cargo. But, you can get the Jungle Jaguar without the tiki mug, too. On its own, it’s $6.50.
The mug itself is $33, so add that in to the cost of the drink (that, again, you have to buy) and your total will be $48. We honestly weren’t huge fans of either drink, so that was a little disappointing. But, you might like them if you enjoy those flavors! If you don’t, and you have to have this mug in your collection, just bring along someone who loves licorice or sweet drinks to sip on them so you don’t have to!
The mugs will only be available while supplies last, and they tend to be pretty popular, so head on over to the Polynesian to grab your wristband so you can buy one before they’re gone. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney merchandise news and updates!
