REVIEW: Dear Disney World, It Might Be Time to Let Go of Beer Gelato.

Disney World drinks and snacks are kind of our thing.

Disney Springs

And one of the best places to find fun food, treats, and drinks is actually Disney Springs. Disney Springs is a shopping location that has a bunch of Disney-themed gift shops as well as other popular stores, restaurants, and kiosks. Today, we’re heading in to try a new treat that just arrived at the gelato shop there!

If we’re looking for gelato in Disney Springs, one place immediately comes to mind: Vivoli il Gelato.

Vivoli il Gelato

We’ve had some VERY delicious treats here (like the Mocha Caramel Bombolato), but some desserts have been a little…well…strange. Vivoli il Gelato frequently has booze-flavored gelato, which sometimes works out great!

Mimosa Sorbet

Other times, we think they should’ve stuck with more classic flavors. Today, we’re trying out one of those alcoholic gelatos: the new Founders Porter Gelato.

Founders Porter Gelato

You can get a taste of this new gelato for $8. It’s Founders Porter beer-infused gelato that also has bits of chocolate mixed in.

Founders Porter Gelato

Essentially, this tasted like chocolate Porter beer. We really appreciated that the beer flavor wasn’t super aggressive, because we’ve had beer gelato here that was way too strong in the past.

Still a hint of beer

In this gelato, though, you could still taste the beer, but it wasn’t overpowering. It’s much better than most of the boozy gelato we’ve had before. (Although we must admit — we’d probably still rather have a normal-flavored gelato or a regular beer instead of a combination of the two.)

Beer Gelato

But if you love beer, this might be the perfect treat for you! And anyone who is a huge chocolate fan but looking for a unique twist on the flavor would probably enjoy this as well. Those who dislike beer or don’t have a sweet tooth at all will want to steer clear.

Although it was a tasty, unique treat, we thought it was a little small for $8. You can get bigger (and possibly better) desserts for a lower price at other spots in Disney Springs, like the half-pound cookies at Gideon’s Bakehouse for $6 or a scoop of Ghirardelli ice cream for $5.95.

So head down to Vivoli il Gelato if you’re hoping to give the Founders Porter Gelato a try. And keep following DFB for more updates on the newest Disney World treats.
