REVIEW: Please Order Anything BUT the Appletini at Restaurantosaurus in Animal Kingdom

It’s a very exciting day, everyone! It’s Disney World’s 50th anniversary!!

It’s the BIG day!

And there are celebrations everywhere, from the parks to the hotels to the transportation that gets you there. Over in Animal Kingdom, a brand new daytime show — Disney KiteTails — is making its big debut today. But, that’s not all! There are also a ton of special food items in the park we just HAVE to try, so come along with us as we check out some new treats!

We headed over to DinoLand U.S.A. to Restaurantosaurus to check out two new drinks on the menu for the 50th. First up is the 50th Anniversary Celebration Milk Shake!

50th Celebration Milkshake

This is a vanilla milkshake with strawberry syrup, a buttercream rim, whipped cream topping, and a sugar cookie coated with crunchy bits of fruit-flaked cereal.

Check out that Fruity Pebbles rim!

We’re gonna tell you right off the bat — this milkshake is a lot to handle. The drink in general is very sweet, but especially when you get some of that strawberry syrup. It’s a really heavy drink, so don’t grab it thinking it’ll be a quick, refreshing drink to sip on! But if you’ve got a serious sweet tooth and love sugar cookies, we think you’ll be delighted with this treat.

Sugar on sugar on sugar

Just in case you didn’t get enough sugar from the strawberry syrup, vanilla shake, or fruity pebble rim, don’t forget about that extra cookie on top! You can get this milkshake for $8.99.

The second drink is actually located in Restaurantosaurus Lounge. This is the Firefly Appletini!

Firefly Appletini on Menu

The name might make you think this drink has Firefly Vodka in it, but nope! It has Stolichnaya Vodka, DeKuyper Pucker Sour Apple Liqueur, sweet-and-sour, lime juice, and a sugar rim served with a glow cube inside. We’re puckering up from all those sour flavors just thinking about it!

Firefly Appletini

Guys. We really wanted this to be good. But it actually missed the target completely for us. The drink is VERY sour and also somehow too sugary. We feel like it was designed for young kids (with all those strong candy-like flavors), but then someone dumped alcohol in it so now no one’s happy. It’s almost like drinking a green apple Jolly Rancher! We don’t mind sour apple flavors, but this was just too much.

Not Great…

To add insult to injury, the drink was very small. We get that it’s a martini (or “appletini”), but it was $16, so the amount you get is very disappointing. Don’t be sad like us — grab a margarita here instead! The Restaurantosaurus Lounge has had some good drinks in the past, so this one is just a bad apple in an otherwise great lounge.

Make your way over to DinoLand U.S.A. to try out these drinks for yourself and let us know what you think! Stay tuned to DFB as we try and review all of the new food for the 50th in Disney World.
