Disney World has a LOT of rides; there’s something for everyone!
But just as there’s something that will make everyone a happy guest, some rides just aren’t everyone’s favorites. We asked our readers on Facebook which Disney World rides they’d be TOTALLY okay not going on again — and we got some surprising answers.
Scary Rides
Some of our readers pointed out some rides that are SO SCARY, they’d never ride them again.
1. “it’s a small world”
First up, “it’s a small world” is apparently a skip for a LOT of people. One of our readers put it clearly when they said, “Those eyes! All those eyes! Soulless dead eyes, singing over and over and over!” It seems that song is a bit of an unpleasant earworm for some guests.
2. Dinosaur
Another scary ride is Dinosaur. We can’t say we agree with not ever riding this one again but we will acknowledge that it can be terrifying! Some guests also think the jolting can get painful. One of our readers noted, “I feel like Disney should set up a chiropractor just outside the exits for this ride.”
3. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
When it comes to scary, it’s pretty hard to beat The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. There is a LOT to fear about this ride. The story is scary, the effects are scary, and that drop? Plus, some folks just don’t love the feeling of falling! “I HATE drop tower rides,” added one of our readers.
4. Expedition Everest
Though this might come as surprise, some folks have sworn off Expedition Everest. Like Dinosaur, this one has elements that are super jerky and can be painful AND it can be scary for non-thrill-seekers. One reader specifically pointed out that they are “not a fan of falling 80 feet backward.”
5. It’s Tough To Be a Bug
This next one has been sworn-off by many a family — It’s Tough To Be A Bug. Sometimes, it’s just not pleasant to expect a fun family ride based on a beloved Pixar film and to instead get stuck watching a scary and dark bug takeover. One mom mentioned, it “scared the bejeebus outta my kids.”
6. Slinky Dog Dash
Slinky Dog Dash might be another surprising one on this list. Sure, it’s not scary to most, but when you’re expecting a kids’ coaster and Slinky takes off at those speeds, it can be scary. It’s even been enough to make some readers swear off it forever noting, “It’s not a little kid roller coaster!”
7. Splash Mountain
Splash Mountain was mentioned a few times and surprisingly not because it gets people wet. Instead, people have said they would never ride Splash Mountain again because of the scary drop. One reader mentioned Splash alongside Tower of Terror and asked, “Can you tell I’m not a fan of drop rides?”
Rides That Make You Sick
Motion sickness can be a regular occurrence in Disney World and that can certainly be enough to make someone want to skip a ride!
8. Mission Space
No surprise here, but Mission Space was one of the most mentioned rides that people would never ride again. One reader put it bluntly, “…the only Disney ride I’ve been on that has barf bags….and for good reason. I didn’t use them, but I could have.”
9. Avatar – Flight of Passage
Avatar – Flight of Passage is a super popular ride in Disney’s Animal Kingdom so you might find it surprising that there are those who would rather never ride it again. It’s just not a great ride for those with motion troubles. A reader said, “It made me soooo sick.”
10. Space Mountain
Space Mountain is another one that unfortunately can be more painful than fun for some. For those who are more sensitive to movement, this ride might be better left to others. “Loved it as a kid. It’s painful as an adult,” a reader added.
11. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
The newest ride in EPCOT actually had some guests saying “one and done” too. One of our readers noted that Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure was a little disorienting saying, “the 3D and spinning made me motion sick.”
12. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster can be a little intense for people too. In fact, this was another one that had frequent mention of a chiropractor from our readers like, “I may as well just give everything I own to the chiropractor after a ride!”
13. Astro Orbiter
Anyone who’s been on Astro Orbiter in Magic Kingdom knows that it’s not the most comfortable ride and many of our readers agree. One said, “I never will go on it again. One and done.”
14. Star Tours
Hollywood Studios has another notoriously-sickness-inducing motion simulator. If you get motion sick, you probably want to avoid Star Tours. One of our motion-averse readers calls it out, “It makes me so sick!”
15. Mad Tea Party
Mad Tea Party was another frequent mention! One reader said they would NEVER endure that spinning again, “And I’ve ridden most of the craziest roller coasters without a thought.”
16. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
This one came as a bit of a surprise to us but the spinning and bouncing in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh has been enough for some readers to avoid it at all costs. One reader notes, “Could not stand the day-glow colors and the spinning. Spent most of the ride with my eyes closed.”
Rides That Need An Update
Some rides were mentioned as never-agains, at least until they get a major update.
17. Tomorrowland Speedway
Tomorrowland Speedway was one of these. This is pretty understandable between the diesel smell, the uncomfortable seats, the loud noise, and the difficult steering. One reader put it simply, “Worst. Ride. Ever.”
18. Journey Into Imagination with Figment
Journey Into Imagination with Figment also has its fair share of haters. Some questioned, “What even was that?” Still, many mentioned that they could enjoy this unique ride if it got an update.
19. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin
Finally, though Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin is beloved by many, some readers would rather keep skipping it “unless it gets a big tech rework.”
Overrated Rides
This next section is CONTROVERSIAL. Some of our readers would rather never ride some fan-favorite attractions.
20. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run had some no-sayers. One reader mentioned, “The ride experience is was too dependent on the skill of the pilots, which is typically at least 1 young child.”
21. Rise of the Resistance
SHOCKINGLY, there were a few votes for those who would skip Rise of the Resistance; they didn’t understand the excitement. One reader explained, “I’ve never seen Star Wars so I don’t get the hype.” It just goes to show you that there are all types of Disney guests out there!
22. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was a surprisingly repeated choice too. Some noted that it is uncomfortable and deceptively thrilling, others mentioned the extensive lines for a mediocre attraction. One reader called out, “I miss the original Snow White ride!”
23. Na’vi River Journey
Of Na’vi River Journey, one reader said, “Can’t believe how long we waited in line for that thing. Not worth it at all.” With sometimes exorbitant waits, it seems like guests aren’t always happy with the underwhelming experience of Na’vi River Journey.
24. Soarin’ Around the World
Soarin’ is a popular ride but for those who are afraid of heights or don’t care much for looking at feet, it might be a skip. One reader said, “It’s a giant TV you watch with other people’s feet above you, then they spray different air fresheners every now & then.”
25. Jungle Cruise
Jungle Cruise is a historic attraction, but that doesn’t mean that everyone loves it. One reader said, “I just don’t get the appeal, especially with the long wait.”
26. Peter Pan’s Flight
Here’s another surprising one! Peter Pan’s Flight is a cute ride, but many assert that it’s not at all worth its typical waits. A reader mentions, “ridiculously long lines that aren’t worth the wait, in my opinion.”
27. Frozen Ever After
Frozen Ever After has a few mentions. Lots of folks find it underwhelming for the wait and one reader laid their feelings out plain, “I miss Maelstrom!”
28. Test Track
Apparently, several of our readers would be happy to never ride Test Track again. One reader explained that it’s just not all that exciting saying, “It’s no different than a ride in a convertible on the interstate. Not worth the wait.”
29. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway got some votes for motion sickness, but mostly because it was overrated and disappointing to some. One reader said, “Lame for such a long line.”
30. Dumbo The Flying Elephant
Dumbo The Flying Elephant might seem like a staple for longtime Disney goers, but it’s not the most jaw-dropping ride. One reader expressed their feelings about it, “We waited an hour and a half for that?”
Kinda Boring Rides
And finally, there are just a few rides that are pretty boring. Lots of folks consider these not worth another ride!
31. Magic Carpets of Aladdin
A LOT of people gave Magic Carpets of Aladdin the boot. One reader said, “Not sure it was my daughter or the actual ride but it jerked nonstop!”
32. Gran Fiesta Tour
Gran Fiesta Tour was commonly sighted by folks who started by saying, “Well, if I had to pick…” in response to the question. One reader noted that when in EPCOT, “I can easily skip it.”
33. Hall of Presidents
Hall of Presidents wasn’t a frequent choice, but a few of our international readers explained how irrelevant it feels to them. One mentioned, “I’m Canadian so it doesn’t mean anything to me.”
34. The Seas with Nemo and Friends
The Seas with Nemo and Friends was another popular choice to never ride again for being on the boring side. One reader mentioned that the “only fun part was the EAC and the projection at the end.”
35. Spaceship Earth
Surprisingly, a few folks called out Spaceship Earth for being too long and boring. You gotta be into the edutainment to like this one! One reader said, “One and done. That ended being the most boring and slowest ride ever!”
36. Kali River Rapids
And finally, Kali River Rapids has lost points with people for boring them AND getting them wet. One reader said, “If I want a raft ride, I have more fun on Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge Rat Barges at Universal.”
There are lots of different ways to do Disney World and this certainly shows that one guest’s favorite is another guest’s never-ride-again! Keep an eye on DFB for more fun tidbits and all the Disney news!
