Disney World Tickets May Be UNAVAILABLE to Buy on Select Dates

If you’re planning a visit to Disney World soon, there are a lot of things to consider, including Park Pass reservations, hotel reservations, buying your tickets, and more.

NEW Ticket Design!

But, things might have just gotten a bit more complicated. Recently, we shared that sales for select Annual Passes have been suspended. Now, we’ve gotten an update about how the purchase of certain park tickets may also be limited.

Recently, Disney shared an important ticket update with Travel Agents, and we saw an update on the Disney World ticket website. According to Disney’s update to travel agent, as they continue to manage park attendance using the Park Pass system, certain park tickets may be UNAVAILABLE to purchase on select dates in the future. This could include select dates during the holiday season and more, based on availability.

When we checked the Disney World ticket website earlier today, we noticed some of this already in action. The Disney World ticket website currently shows the Park Passes that are available for the dates in the calendar. For dates where there are no Park Passes available, it appears the system will NOT let you buy a ticket for that date.

For example, we searched for a 1-day, 1-park-per-day ticket in November, and while select dates were available, you can see some dates (November 22nd, 23rd, and 26th) marked as “unavailable” for purchase.

The same appeared for select dates in December. At the moment, it appears tickets for December 28th through the 30th are “unavailable” for purchase. Though, of course, this is subject to change.

When we looked for a multi-day ticket, we also encountered an interesting situation. We looked for a 3-day, 1-park-per-day ticket in November. If we selected November 24th as our start date, the system prompted us to select a new start date because our date range included November 26th, which is not available. Essentially, it did not allow us to purchase the 3-day ticket with the original start date we selected.

The website showed a break-down of the dates in our range and what parks were currently available on each date.

When we moved our start date to November 27th, however, the system allowed us to go to the next step in making the ticket purchase, as it did not include an “unavailable” date.

It also showed us the available parks on the dates within our range.

We experienced a similar situation when looking at a date range in December that included some unavailable dates.

So, if you’re planning to visit Disney World during the upcoming holiday season and you don’t yet have your tickets, we would highly recommend you look at the dates you were planning to visit and see if you are still able to purchase the tickets you wanted, or otherwise see what can be arranged for your trip. Also, play around with those “start dates” to see if you can still purchase tickets for the dates you wanted to go without including an unavailable date in the range. You’ll also want to make those Park Pass reservations as quickly as possible.

And, if you’re planning to visit Disney World during future busy seasons or holiday periods, be aware that tickets may become unavailable for purchase based on availability. You’ll want to keep a close eye on the dates you’re planning to visit and, if possible, get those tickets far in advance so you don’t have to deal with any of these concerns.
