Weâre having a JOLLY time exploring the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays!
The festival kicks off TODAY, November 26th, and runs through December 30th and weâre making sure we see EVERYTHING there is to see. There are lots of food booths (called Holiday Kitchens!) and weâre paying a visit to EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Our next stop is over in the Mexico Pavilion, where weâre trying out the eats at Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen!
Youâll find Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen right on the edge of World Showcase, where theyâre serving up some festive Mexican cuisine.
Check out the Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen menu.
That menu looks PRETTY good, so letâs eat!
Food
First up, weâve got a returning eat with the Giant Tostada de Chorizo for $9.75. This BIG bite is made with Chorizo served on a Giant Tostada with Chipotle Black Bean PurĂ©e, Salsa Verde, Queso Cotija, Crema Mexicana, and Pickled Onion.
We tried out this sizeable portion at Festival of the Holidays last year and it wowed us with its notable spice and complex flavor profile. In fact, it wowed us so much that it made our Best of the Fest list!
Next up, weâve got a NEW eat: the Tamal de Barbacoa! Get ready for Shredded Barbacoa Beef in a Corn Masa topped with Ranchera Salsa, Queso Cotija, and Crema Mexicana. This one is gluten-friendly, and you can snag it for $7.50.
The Tamal de Barbacoa wasnât a huge hit with us, mainly because there was a lot more dough than filling in this dish.
We really enjoyed the flavor of the Barbacoa beef inside and the cheese on top, but there was just not enough of the filling. If the dough-to-meat ratio were balanced better, it wouldâve been one of our favorite dishes!
And if you get a bite with just a little bit of dough and a big portion of filling, we think youâll LOVE this. Seriously, that Barbacoa is delicious. But since thereâs just way too much dough, this one isnât a top choice for us. At this Holiday Kitchen, we definitely prefer that Giant Tostada. But we had a little visitor who definitely seemed to enjoy this dish! OhâŠand turns out, the bees are BACK for this festival!
Thereâs something at Las Posadas for those sweet tooths, too! Get excited for the returning Dulce de Leche Churros sprinkled with Cinnamon-Sugar for $5.95.
These were a churro loverâs DREAM when we had them last year. Thereâs a really awesome balance of dulce de leche filling to churro so you get a LOT of flavor without the treat getting soggy.
But what are you going to wash down all those delicious eats with?
Drinks
New drink alert! Weâre suckers for a Mexico Pavilion marg, so weâre pretty excited to try the Cranberry-Cinnamon Margarita for $13.50. A combo of Apple-Cinnamon infused Ilegal Mezcal, Cranberry Juice, Orange Liqueur, and Lime Juice with a Cinnamon-Sugar Rim? Weâre in!
This margarita lived up to all our holiday marg dreams! It was really pretty, first of all, and the cinnamon sugar rim was delicious. The sugar rim doesnât go all the way around (itâs just on part of the rim), and it gave just a little bit of sweetness to the drink, which balanced nicely with the tartness from the cranberry.
The cranberry flavor is prominent, which makes this a little more special than just your basic margarita (not that we donât LOVE the normal margaritas in the Mexico pavilionâŠbut a special holiday treat is so fun too!). The cranberry seems to overpower the orange flavor, since we could definitely taste it more than the orange. The cinnamon flavor in the drink itself was more subtle at first, but after we took a few sips we could definitely tell it was there.
Aaaaand the Horchata Margarita is back again this year for $13. This drink is made with Centinela Blanco Tequila, Abasolo Corn Whisky, Agua de Horchata, and Cinnamon Horchata Rum and tends to be a win for us. Itâs creamy and goes down smooth. Oh, yeah!
And weâll round out the drink offerings with a NEW beer this year, the Mistletoe Cerveza, which you can get as a 6 oz drink for $7 or a 12 oz drink for $13. Expect a Tulum Artisanal Lager with Blackcurrant Liqueur.
We thought the Mistletoe Cerveza was pretty good! It tastes pretty much like any light beer that youâll get at a Mexican joint with a little added sweetness from the Blackcurrant Liqueur.
If you let the drink sit for a little while, it looks like the ingredients separate and some of them rest on the bottom. So it doesnât look super appetizing since the additions donât blend well with the beer, but it does taste pretty good!
If these sound like your kind of items, you can find them at Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen at the Mexico Pavilion now through December 30th at the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. And stay tuned to DFB as we keep eating our way around the world!
