Late last month, Shanghai Disneyland temporarily re-closed in order to “cooperate with the pandemic investigation in other provinces and cities.” The closure wound up lasting through November 2nd, and the resort has since reopened.
Now, another international Disney park has temporarily re-close due to COVID-19.
Hong Kong Disneyland temporarily closed its gates for the day on Wednesday, November 17th due to suspected COVID-19 cases, according to CNN.
According to a statement released by Disney, “The government issued a compulsory testing notice requiring any persons who were present at the park at any time during the period from 11:00am to 6:00pm on Nov 14 (Sun) to undergo compulsory testing for COVID-19 on or before Nov 18 (Thu).” In addition, Disney stated that “In an abundance of caution, Hong Kong Disneyland Park will be closed on Nov 17 (Wed) to ensure relevant Cast Members can complete the test sooner. Guests who planned to visit the park on Nov 17 are advised to visit on another day.
This is not the first time Hong Kong Disneyland had to re-close the parks due to COVID-19. After the park first reopened in June of 2020, it has since needed to re-close in July (reopening in September) as well as December of last year (reopening in February 2021).
