One Disney World Ride Will Reopen SOONER Than Expected!

Whether you’re visiting Disney World soon or just like to keep up with all the latest news, we’ve got a couple of updates for you today.

Magic Kingdom

Every so often, Disney will close down a ride, attraction, or hotel in order to work on some refurbishments inside. Right now we’re taking a look at everything that’s going to be closed in Disney World next week so that you know what to expect on your upcoming trip!

There are a few attractions in the parks that you won’t be able to visit this coming week. Let’s take a look!

Magic Kingdom Refurbishments

In the Magic Kingdom, the Walt Disney World Railroad is still closed. This train usually runs around the park with stops on Main Street, U.S.A., in Fantasyland, and another in Frontierland.

But you might have noticed some construction going on in Tomorrowland on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster. That construction interfered with the train tracks, which means the train can’t run right now.

Tron Construction

The Walt Disney World Railroad will probably return when construction over in Tomorrowland finishes up, which could be sometime next year (although Disney hasn’t given an official opening timeline for TRON as of now). During Destination D23, we saw an update on some refurbishments happening on the Walt Disney World Railroad train

The train looks great!

…and we have to say that it’s looking better than ever! We’ll keep you updated on any news we hear of this attraction’s reopening.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Refurbishments

In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the popular water attraction Kali River Rapids is still closed for its refurbishment. We recently saw some new construction walls over by the ride as well. But we actually have some good news with this project!

This ride was going to reopen on January 1st, 2022, but right now it’s scheduled to be open a little earlier, on December 16th, 2021 instead!

Kali River Rapids will be open sooner than we thought!

So in just a couple of weeks, you’ll be able to enjoy Kali River Rapids again. We’ll keep you updated about its reopening as soon as we see it back in the parks.

EPCOT Refurbishments

In EPCOT, the Souk-al-Magreb gift shop in the Morocco pavilion of World Showcase is still closed. It came off the refurbishments schedule for a while, but we didn’t see it reopen in the park.

Still closed!

The gift shop is now back on Disney’s refurbishments schedule, and it looks like the shop will be closed at least until February of next year. That’s as far as the schedule goes right now, so its closure could be longer.

Disney World Hotel Refurbishments

Disney’s Port-Orleans Riverside Resort reopened last month, but the Boatwright’s Dining Hall did not open with it.

A Cast Member said the dining hall will likely reopen in December, so stay tuned for more updates on that.

Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort still has not opened.

All-Star Sports Entrance

It was scheduled to open in December of this year, but Disney announced that its reopening will be delayed indefinitely due to more construction inside.

Over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, the Big Pine Key building has started its transformation into Disney Vacation Club villas. The rooms will become 200 resort studios, which are scheduled to open in the summer of 2022.

That’s all for our updates on what’ll be closed in Disney World next week! Remember that the rides and attractions could close without warning due to technical issues or bad weather, so keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app and the Disney Food Blog to get all the updates during your vacation.
