We love checking out the gorgeous decorations and live entertainment, but y’all know what we really came for: the FOOD. Right now, we’re visiting a booth that was a big hit in 2019 — but can this year’s version measure up?

The Making Spirits Bright booth usually just had drinks and flights on its menu, but in the last couple of years it’s started to add some snacks as well.

Menu

On the menu here, you’ll find one returning favorite and a new item to try. We loved the “Hot Cocoa” Marshmallow Macaron in 2019 (in fact, it made our Best of the Fest list for that year). But we’re also excited to try the new Cinnamon & Sugar Holiday Tart. Sadly, another one of our favorites from 2019 — the Caramelized Apple Cake — did not return this year.

On the drinks menu, there are two returning flights. The Red Wine Flight is $17, and the White Wine Flight is $16.50.

The Red Wine Flight comes with Murphy Goode, Pinot Noir; JOEL GOTT, Zinfandel; and Quilt, Cabernet Sauvignon. And the White Wine Flight includes the Malibu Rocky Oaks Estate Vineyards, Dry Sauvignon Blanc; Annabella Special Selection, Chardonnay; and The Family Coppola, Sofia Rose. You can also get the NEW Maple Hazelnut Hot Buttered Rum for $15.

Eats

The “Hot Cocoa” Marshmallow Macaron is two chocolate macaron cookies with a chocolate marshmallow filling in between. It costs $5.50. Here’s a look at the 2019 version!

You can also get the new Cinnamon & Sugar Holiday Tart for $6.

Cinnamon and Sugar Holiday Tart

This holiday tart may look like a fancy pop tart, but it actually tastes just like a delicious sugar cookie!

Yum!

The pastry is very cookie-like, and it’s topped with a drizzle of cinnamon icing and festive sprinkles. And on the inside, you’ll find a delicious cinnamon filling.

Cinnamon Filling

We were big fans of this treat. If you like wintery spices and soft sugar cookies, we think you’ll enjoy it too.

Drinks

The Maple Hazelnut Hot Buttered Rum is rum and maple syrup with flavors of hazelnut, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove topped with house-made salted caramel whipped cream. It’s available here for $15. We’ll be trying this drink out later in the festival, so make sure to stay tuned with DFB!

Overall

This is a great booth to visit if you’re looking for some dessert after your meal or just a sweet bite! Both the snack options here are delicious, and they have very different flavors from one another. If you’re looking for a lighter bite that makes you feel like you’re right beside a campfire, the macaron is going to be perfect for you. But for a bit more dessert and some classically Christmas flavors, we absolutely recommend trying the holiday tart. We’ll be back soon with a review of that new hot buttered rum as well!

Keep following DFB, because we’ll be checking out all the booths at this year’s festival.
