With the latest Disney animated film, Encanto, about to hit theaters, a new mural inspired by the film is now on display at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The new piece of artwork can be found near a backstage entrance at Discovery Island, between Pizzafari and Creature Comforts, not far from the mural inspired by the puppets of the Merry Menagerie.
The mural, designed by Catalina Estrada, features a pair of macaws in a kaleidoscopic pattern of leaves, flowers, and butterflies.
A sign nearby gives information about Estrada, as well as the “Styled with Encanto” collection.
The bio on Estrada reads:
Catalina Estrada is a Colombian illustrator and pattern designer based in Barcelona since 1999. Flora and fauna are her main sources of inspiration, from which she builds her own universe driven by the simplicity of beauty. Her prints are displayed on products that are sold worldwide. Additionally, she collaborates as a volunteer on several social projects.
The “Styled with Encanto” project has brought four artists from various regions in Colombia, where the film is set, to make art inspired by the film. Estrada, along with Sebas Pakui, Diana Ordoñez (Ledania), and Jhonny Núñez, have “utilized their unique artistic styles to capture the heart of the film and its magical story of Colombian culture, music and family.”
Encanto arrives in theaters November 24th.
