Several old items have returned to the menu for Rancho del Zocalo this holiday season, but Disneyland guests can also celebrate with two new items: cinnamon crisps and pork pozole.
The Abuelita hot chocolate, horchata, and dessert nachos are returning items.
Pork Pozole – $11.99
Traditional Mexican stew of hominy, shredded pork and guajillo peppers, garnished with lime, cabbage, onion and radish
Given the weather, we weren’t in a soup mood. But after one bite, that changed. Bursting with interesting flavors, this is a solid option.
It has a mild spice, tons of pork, and a load of fresh vegetables. It’s also a hearty portion.
The lemon chips on the side are salty and very lemon forward. They’re good.
Cinnamon Crisps – $3.99
We’re already partial to these since José Carioca is on the bag, but they also taste good. They’re light and airy with a light dusting of cinnamon on each chip. There’s a plentiful helping in the bag, so it’s one of the best value snacks at Disneyland.
Abuelita Hot Chocolate – $3.49
Mexican hot chocolate with cinnamon flavor
The hot chocolate is delicious, even on a rather hot day. It was rich and chocolatey, with subtle hints of cinnamon. The whipped cream topping added even more richness as it melted into the drink. Also to note was that it was not overly sweet, as most Disney drinks tend to be. Kids and adults alike should be happy with this.
Horchata – $5.49
Sweet creamy cinnamon, rice and milk beverage served over ice
Another thumbs up for both kids and adults! It’s a bit like you’re drinking cinnamon milk. It’s a well done, simple horchata. You can mix the whipped cream and cinnamon in to add some extra creaminess and spice.
Dessert Nachos – $7.99
Cinnamon sugar chips, topped with caramel, whipped cream and honey crème anglaise
This dessert item is a fun twist on a savory favorite! The chips themselves are tasty on their own, mimicking churros. When mixed with the apple pie filling, the dish is amazing. The only downside of this dish is that if you do not eat the chips fast enough, they do get a bit soggy. This is a great dessert to share with friends and family.
