New holiday drinks just dropped at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at Disneyland Resort and of course, we had to try each one. Keep reading on for our detailed review.
Jungle All The Way – $15.50
Fernet Branca, Kahlúa, Lime Juice, Pineapple Juice, and Coconut Cream
Weird. Not bad, just weird. The frenet isn’t a common ingredient and lends a strange flavor that’s hard to place. The coconut cream gives it a chunky, cloudy appearance. It is almost a savory cocktail, like a fruity bloody mary without spice. It’s very confusing, and yet we kept drinking it, trying to unravel it’s mysteries until it was gone.
Peppermint Barks – $15.50
El Dorado 8-Year Rum, Rumple Minze Peppermint Schnapps, Ginger Syrup, Lemon Juice, Coco Reàl Cream of Coconut, Mint Leaves and Pomegranate Juice, garnished with Candy Cane
Very pomegranate forward, with a nice tartness that weirdly works with the peppermint. It’s served rimmed with candy cane but also with a straw. Opt for the side sip and ditch the straw because the candy canes really help. For all of the disparate ingredients in this, it holds together well.
Teeny Bubbles – $14.00
Gorilla Grog, Lime Juice, Orgeat, Orange Curaçao, Real McCoy Rum, Sparkling Wine, and Cinnamon Syrup, garnished with a Cherry
Hands down the best of the four. The fruit juices brighten it and make it fit the tropical surrounding better than the others, and while less holly jolly than the others, it is a darn good drink. Not as strong as many of the others on the holiday or normal menu, this is an easy, fruity walk on a beach. The effervescence of the champagne is nearly lost but still barely apparent. It tastes almost like a less creamy ambrosia, with notes of grape and pear despite the absence of those ingredients. Such a good cocktail.
Gin-ger Snaps – $16.00
Hendrick’s Gin, Canton Ginger Liqueur, Lemon Juice, Ginger Syrup, and Cinnamon Syrup, dusted with Cinnamon and garnished with Candied Ginger
Sweetened ginger in a glass. Very spiced, as from pure ginger. Sweeter than you may imagine, but very gingery. Not being a huge fan of ginger, I would personally skip it but our party was mixed on opinion of this one.
After sipping on these drinks, make sure to also check out the new Trader Sam’s merchandise including a bowl, mugs, and more.
