The EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is in full swing and we’ve been bringing you along as we explore all the new (and returning) eats and drinks, entertainment, and more!
So, whether you want to taste your way around the entirety of World Showcase, or you want to save room for only the best, we’ve got you covered. But, it’s not just the holiday kitchen booths that are home to some sweet treats and drinks, there are also a few select EXTRA locations that are serving up a specialty dish. And, today we’re headed into the France Pavilion to check out what they’re baking up in Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie!
For the past few years, this Quick Service spot has been serving up a well-known holiday favorite — the Buche de Noël. And, this year it is BACK again, but Disney has changed it up once again and reverted it to the flavors that you might recognize from allll the way back in 2018!
This year’s Buche de Noël is a lot less chocolatey than it was last year and instead is a Christmas log with dark chocolate mousse, mint cream, peppermint candies, and a chocolate biscuit. Like we said, it’s been a LONG time since we’ve seen some of these flavors in the treat.
And, while it has traditionally looked like this…
…this year it has received a full-on makeover and now features a red “log” with white frosting and candies.
So, besides being WAY more photogenic this year, how does it compare to years past? Well, if you’re looking for the taste of Christmas, then you don’t need to look any further!
The main flavors in this treat are mint and peppermint (no surprises there), and the chocolate is really only a lighter taste that adds some depth to the dessert. And, while we REALLY enjoyed photographing this beauty, we couldn’t help but think that it was rather…bland. But, we’re pretty big fans of being smacked in the face with peppermint flavors, so those who prefer more a more subtle taste will likely enjoy this one!
You can find it back at the bakery this holiday season for $8.75, so be sure to stop by and pick it up while it’s still there! And, stay tuned to DFB for more of the latest food updates from Disney World!
