Happy Holidays! The yuletide season is in full swing in Disney World and lots of decorations are starting to pop up around the parks.
But you know us, and we’re all about the FOOD. Luckily, Disney World has released a bunch of holiday treats for the parks and resorts this year, so we’re going to check them all out! Today, we’re trying a returning holiday snack from Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
At Backlot Express and Trolley Car Café in Hollywood Studios, we’re eating the Red Velvet Whoopie Pie. It is made with red velvet cake filled with classic cream cheese filling and festive sprinkles! You can grab one for $4.99.
This treat has been around for years now and came back in a whole new way last year. It resembles the iconic and beloved Carrot Cake Cookie, but how does this year’s version stack up?
We remember LOVING this treat in years past…but this year’s whoopie pie was actually a big disappointment.
Before you panic, we have to say that it wasn’t completely awful. The red velvet flavor was still there, and the treat still looks gorgeous and very festive. But the cake tasted pretty dry and crumbly to us instead of the decadent, moist texture we remember.
The cake also didn’t have as much flavor as we remember, which meant that the sweet cream cheese frosting was pretty much the only thing we tasted. If you love cream cheese frosting, that might not necessarily be a bad thing! But we missed the combination of cream cheese and a strong red velvet taste.
We’re hoping that we just got a bad batch, and future Red Velvet Whoopie Pies this year will be much better! But if you don’t want to take your chances, you can get other holiday treats at the Trolley Car Café, like the peanut butter and caramel cheesecake Reindeer Mousse for $5.49. And just as a note, this tends to replace the beloved Carrot Cake Cookie during the holidays!
You can grab the Red Velvet Whoopie Pie in Disney World until January 3rd. We’re always keeping up with the latest Disney news, so stay tuned here for more!
