This Small UPDATE Makes It Easier to See Your Favorite Characters in Disney World

Character meet and greets recently returned to Disney World in a new, modified way that Disney is calling “sightings.”

Nice to see you, Mickey!

At character sightings, guests can get one-on-one time with available characters in a socially distanced way. There are no autographs or hugs yet, but you can take photos and have a chat. Now Disney has made planning your day around character sightings easier, and here’s how!

In the My Disney Experience app, you can now see which characters are available for sightings and the length of the standby wait time. Right now, only Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios have announced the return of characters available for sightings. Right now, you can meet a few of the Princesses and Mickey in Magic Kingdom!

We noticed that Disney has changed the language to say “See Cinderella” instead of “Meet Cinderella,” likely due to the modified nature of these meet and greets.

As you can see, Tinker Bell is not yet available for meet and greets, and the app still says “Meet Tinker Bell.” We’ll be on the lookout for her return, and you can use My Disney Experience to check for other Disney characters’ availabilities.

In Magic Kingdom, you can catch Mickey in his EARidescent 50th anniversary suit at the Town Square Theater! You can also see how long these characters are available, with Mickey’s showtimes showing availability from 9AM to 8:30PM. And as you can see, the current wait is 5 minutes.

We did not see these sightings in the Disney Genie tip board yet, but we’ll be watching closely for more changes.

So next time you’re in the parks, check the My Disney Experience app to find out which Disney characters are available to see! Then you will know how long they are meeting for and you can set a wait time expectation for your party. Keep checking back with DFB for more Disney World news.
