We Quit. Disney World, You Win.

Welcome to the Festival of the Holidays, everyone! It’s finally time to loosen those belts and enjoy all the holiday eats and treats.

So Pretty

Today, we’re checking out Tangierine Café: Flavors of the Medina, a booth that’s available during Festival of the Holidays for the first time this year!

Although Tangierine Café is a newcomer to the Festival of the Holidays, we’ve actually had the chance to enjoy this booth at other festivals before.

Tangierine Cafe: Flavors of the Medina

During the recent 2021 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, the Tangierine Café: Flavors of Medina booth was a major hit for us, so we’re expecting big things from it this time as well.

Menu

On the menu here, you can get Grilled Kebabs, Stone-Baked Moroccan Bread, and an Almond Spice Cake for snacks.

For drinks, there are three different options for Hard Ciders, which you can get individually or as a flight. There’s also a Fig Cocktail available here. We can’t wait to dig in!

Eats

First up is the Grilled Kebabs, which come with a Carrot-Chickpea Salad and Garlic Aïoli for $5.75. You can get the kebab as either Harissa Chicken or Lamb Kefta. We decided to try one of each!

Grilled Kebab with Harissa Chicken

We thought that both of the kebabs were absolutely delicious. The chicken was tender and juicy — not dry at all — and the lamb had a ton of flavor. Either way, you can’t go wrong with these.

Yum!

The carrot and chickpea slaw that came on the side was very tasty as well. It had a strong curry flavor and a little bit of spice to it, but there were also golden raisins and dried craisins in there, so there was a hint of sweetness as well. Note that the slaw also has almond slivers in it, which is not listed on the menu. So if you have an almond or nut allergy, make sure to stay away from this dish!

The garlic aïoli is very good too! It has a mayonnaise texture, so it’s a little bit thick, and we really enjoyed how the creaminess set off the spice from the rest of the dish. You can get some Stone-Baked Moroccan Bread for $5, which comes with three different dips: Hummus, Fig Tapenade, and Zhoug dip. We had a very similar dish to this one at the Food & Wine Festival this year.

For dessert, we tried a slice of the Almond Spice Cake, which has ginger mousse, orange ganache, and sesame tuile. You can get a piece for $4.75.

Almond-spiced Cake

This cake is really delicious! It was one of our favorite treats at the festival so far. You can definitely taste a strong almond flavor in the cake, but the ginger in the mousse is a lighter flavor.

Delicious!

The mousse is nice and light, which is a great texture combination with the rich ganache. The flavor combo is great between these as well, with the orange and ginger meshing together well. There’s just a little strip of the ganache, but we thought it was actually the perfect amount since the orange flavor is strong and it’s so rich.

10/10

We loved the little candied sesame seed disk on top as well — it adds a nice little crunch and has a strong nutty flavor.

Drinks

Finally, we tried the Cider Flight, which is available for $9.75. You can also get any of the ciders individually for $5 (6 oz portion) or $9 (12 oz portion).

Cider Flight

The Cider Flight comes with the Stem Ciders Lavender Apple Hard Cider, the Bold Rock Ginger Turmeric Hard Cider, and the Woodchuck Cinnamon Nutmeg Hard Cider. We thought all three ciders were refreshing and sweet.

Cider Flight Info

You can definitely taste the apple flavor in the Lavender Apple one, and there’s a hint of cinnamon nutmeg spice in the Woodchuck cider.

Not bad, but not mind-blowing

The Bold Rock cider tasted just like an average light cider to us, although we got a bit more of a ginger flavor when we tried a few more sips. If you’re searching for the ginger in that one, you can tell it’s there, but it probably won’t jump out at you. If you love hard ciders, this might be a fun flight to try out, but none of these drinks were super unique or fun to us. You can also try out the Fig Cocktail here, which has sparkling wine, fig vodka, and cranberry juice for $11.

Fig Cocktail with White-Cranberry Juice and Fig Vodka

We had a very similar drink at the Food & Wine Festival, and we thought it had a very unique flavor. The drink was pretty sweet, and we couldn’t really taste the alcohol in it.

Overall

We think that Tangierine Cafe has lived up to our high expectations from the other festivals! The kebabs and cake were both winners in our book, although none of the hard ciders really impressed us. When we come back, we’ll probably get our drink somewhere else (maybe hit up Mexico for a margarita?) and then come here for a snack and definitely for dessert. That cake was a stand-out treat for sure.

But also, how is it possible that this booth is a winner at all the festivals it’s part of? How is that even fair? Whatever, we quit. Disney World wins this round. We’re always keeping up with the latest Disney news, including all the need-to-know info about this year’s Festival of the Holidays! Stay tuned here for more!
