A Popular Magic Kingdom Ride Could Be CLOSED All Day

Happy holidays from Magic Kingdom! There’s a lot happening at the park right now, with Very Merriest After Hours underway and new rides like TRON Lightcycle Run on the way!

However, sometimes things are not so perfect at Disney World — rides evacuate, power outages happen — but ride closures are typically solved pretty quickly. At the Magic Kingdom there was one wrinkle this morning: two MAJOR rides went down.

This morning, both Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain were down! Two of Frontierland’s biggest attractions are not operating, which means Frontierland is looking pretty empty today.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has since reopened, but after speaking to Cast Members, we found that Splash Mountain has a long way to go before it reopens.

We’re not sure why either attraction closed down and according to Cast Members, it doesn’t seem like Splash Mountain will reopen today. Notice how there is no water running down the big drop! We’ll continue to watch the status of this fan-favorite ride and keep you posted with the latest info!
