Guests aboard the Disney Fantasy were unable to debark the ship at St. Thomas this morning due to a rise in COVID-19 cases on board the ship, Disney Cruise Line Blog reports. The Disney Cruise Line ship is currently on a 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise set to return to Port Canaveral on Sunday, January 2.
The ship docked at St. Thomas this morning, December 30, 2021, but Captain Jason informed guests over the intercom that they would not be permitted ashore. According to the captain, there are passengers in quarantine aboard the ship. Reports indicate less than 1% of the crew and passengers were quarantined with COVID-19. All are vaccinated, as is currently required to board Disney Cruise Line ships.
Firsthand accounts report that guests were debarking the Carnival Magic, docked next to the Fantasy at St. Thomas. At 9:30 a.m., the Fantasy left St. Thomas to spend the day at sea instead. It is still scheduled to visit Castaway Cay on Saturday.
Passengers of the Disney Fantasy will receive 20% off a future cruise and a $200 credit for onboard purchases.
The Disney Fantasy was previously under investigation by the CDC and is currently under observation. The other three Disney Cruise Line ships are under investigation, as are several other cruise ships.
