For this week’s adventure, we headed out to Disney Springs to find some unique holiday fun! While the theme parks are lovely during the holiday season, they can become a bit crazy during the week of Christmas, which is why we think Disney Springs is a great alternative to celebrate in Disney-fashion without the cost and crowds of the parks. There are some wonderful hidden gems to check out there, including custom-designed shirts at Uniqlo, fiery dishes at Wine Bar George, and even the opportunity to meet Santa. Come along as we enjoy some family festivities at Disney World’s number one shopping and dining destination!
MAKING CHRISTMAS SHIRTS AT UNIQLO
Uniqlo is a neat store at Disney Springs that offers a variety of colorful clothing and accessories for all ages. One of the coolest parts of this store is the “UT Me!” service, which allows guests to design their own t-shirts and tote bags. While there are tons of “stickers” to choose from with typical Disney imagery available, we decided to get in the holiday spirit and find some fun Christmas designs to create! Jackson was even able to pick out his own design and watch it get printed onto his bag. We loved the results, and we think this is a fun experience for families and creative minds alike.
EATING FLAMING CHEESE AT WINE BAR GEORGE
Our next stop of the day was Wine Bar George, a rustic, estate-style venue that offers diverse wines and some really awesome small plates. This is a perfect place for guests who are looking for a light and flavorful lunch. One of the most interesting dishes here is the Saganaki On Fire, which we just had to try for ourselves! For this item, our server came to our table and lit the cheese ablaze right in front of us, sprinkling the flames with lemon juice until they eventually fizzled out. The spectacular presentation of the plate is just as good as the taste of the cheese itself. It is both beautiful and delicious!
MEETING SANTA AT ONCE UPON A TOY
Our final mission on our romp through Disney Springs was to meet the big, jolly man himself. Thankfully, there is a great photo opportunity with him over at Once Upon a Toy, which is a whimsical shop full of classic and collectible toys. Here, Santa is posed on his chair in front of a decorated Christmas tree, surrounded by toys and his Naughty or Nice list. For social distancing purposes, children aren’t allowed to sit on his lap, but they are able to stand in front of him for the photo. Jackson seemed to really enjoy this simple experience, and we snapped some great shots of him and Santa! This was a wonderful way for us to close out our little holiday adventure at Disney Springs. From our family to yours, Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
