It’s Official: Disney World Has Its Own Holiday

Disney World is magical in more ways than one.

Magic Kingdom

Besides bringing joy to all the guests who visit the theme parks, the Disney company also donates frequently to local charities in Florida and sponsors events to raise more money and awareness for all kinds of causes. Because of their support of the community, Orange County is declaring a new holiday in Disney World’s honor!

According to ClickOrlando, “Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings will declare Dec. 3 as ‘Walt Disney World’ day.” Jeff Vahle (the Walt Disney World president) will attend the ceremony to “receive the official proclamation.”

Orange County wanted to recognize Disney World for all their efforts in the local community. In honor of their 50th Anniversary, Disney World recently donated $3 million to a variety of nonprofits in the Central Florida area, including the Give Kids the World Village, The Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida, ELEVATE Orlando, and others.

In addition, Disney has said that after the proclamation from the Orange County Mayor (which will take place on Friday, December 3rd), volunteers from Disney World will be taking part in a community service project at the Second Harvest Food Bank.
