We’ve been trying limited-time holiday treats all around Disney World in recent weeks, including the Holiday Lunch Box Tart, the Red Velvet Whoopie Pie, and the Menagerie Cupcake, just to name a few!
Today, we’re at Pineapple Lanai in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to check out another new festive frozen snack!
Say “Aloha” to the ‘Olu Mel Christmas Float!
This festive float celebrating all things ‘Olu Mel is a Dole Whip Lime Float with Pineapple Juice, an ‘Olu Mel White Chocolate Medallion and Strawberry Popping Candy. It’s also covered in edible glitter!
But wait, who is ‘Olu Mel, you ask? He’s a music-loving sea turtle who’s friends with Duffy, Mickey Mouse’s teddy bear! ‘Olu Mel likes to hang out around Disney’s Aulani Resort, but he’s created a bit of a presence for himself at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort as well.
If you’re like us and are thinking, “WOW that is a very green Lime Dole Whip,” that’s because they added green food dye (probably to give it that extra pop of holiday color!). We personally could have done without the food dye, but it does make for a very cute, festive and colorful treat.
The ‘Olu Mel white chocolate square was HUGE! The design of ‘Olu Mel was printed on with edible paper, making for a bit of an odd texture, but it was tasty nonetheless. ‘Olu Mel and Lime Dole Whip have seemed to be an inseparable pair since we first noticed the ‘Olu Mel Soft Serve last year.
As far as the float itself goes, we loved the combination of Lime Dole Whip and Pineapple Juice, giving the treat a healthy dose of both sweetness and tartness. The pop rocks add a really fun element to the treat, but be prepared before you take a bite!
Since this is a special holiday treat, it won’t be around for very long! Stop by Pineapple Lanai and try it for yourself for $6.49. We’ll be back throughout the week with more holiday finds around Disney World, so be sure to follow along!
