Over the past few months, the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to change and evolve.
Recently, we’ve seen Orange County, Florida listed as a “rapid riser” and “COVID-19 hotspot.” The county also got placed into the “high risk” COVID-19 category according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Now we’ve got a COVID-19 related update regarding mask rules at Universal Orlando.
Back in May, Universal changed its mask rules to note that masks would no longer be required for fully vaccinated guests, indoors or outdoors. Universal’s website currently notes that they encourage all guests to follow CDC guidelines, including wearing face coverings where recommended. Soon, those mask rules will be changing.
Starting Friday, December 24th, face coverings will be required at all public indoor locations for all guests and all Universal Orlando team members, regardless of vaccination status. This will include any indoor restaurants, shops, and indoor hotel public areas.
Face masks will also be required at all attractions from the moment a guest enters the queue to the moment they exit the attraction.
This change comes just after Orange County, Florida was placed back into the “high risk” COVID-19 category. The CDC recommends that everyone in a Substantial or High category county wear a mask in public, indoor spaces.
Over in Disney World, masks continue to be required for all guests ages 2 and up in all indoor locations, regardless of vaccination status.
We’ve continuing to watch for more COVID-19 updates, particularly as the Omicron COVID-19 variant continues to impact the United States and other countries. For more COVID-19 updates, see the links below:
