Your airplane tickets can take up a big part of your budget and be one of the bigger expenses of your trip. If you’re thinking of visiting Disney World in February of 2022, you might be wondering just how much your flight to Orlando might cost. Today we’re breaking down what you need to know.
Our Method
Just as we’ve done in previous months, we’ll be using a specific method to calculate our average flight costs. We’ve only looked at flights from select airports in the United States to Orlando International Airport (MCO) in February of 2022. We’ve also only looked at flights on select airlines.
In terms of dates, the price of flights to Orlando can vary greatly depending on what days you choose to fly. For our research, we looked at what the flights would cost for a trip departing on Thursday, February 10th, and returning on Monday, February 14th.
This set of days had some cheaper/more averagely priced dates as well as one more expensive date. This was based on the prices of flights from New York (specifically JFK) to Orlando. Note that several days following that period — particularly February 17th through the 23rd — were much more expensive, likely due to the President’s Day holiday on February 21st. Note that the International Festival of the Arts also ends on February 21st, so that period might be quite busy.
Despite the fact that our days fell during Valentine’s Day weekend, they still were some of the more averagely priced days in the month. Keep in mind that the Disney Princess Half Marathon takes place later in the month (from February 24th-27th). While those dates aren’t too expensive right now, that could change. Again, just keep in mind that the dates of a trip can greatly affect travel prices.
Airport Crowds
For this post, except for the flights from Southwest Airlines, we used information from Google Flights to get our prices. This just presents just a snapshot of what the prices looked like when we searched. Bear in mind that prices can vary greatly and might be very different when you choose to search and book.
For our post, we also just looked at a pure price comparison between the various airlines. But airlines and different tickets from those airlines can come with their own pros and cons. Some tickets might be cheaper but they may come with less benefits. Others might be pricier but come with perks like seat selection, etc. The best ticket and airline for you will depend on your needs and wants.
Orlando International Airport
Also, note that the prices we’re sharing below are essentially just the base ticket prices. When you go to book your tickets, you might find that the cost is more expensive due to taxes, fees, and other miscellaneous prices.
A few other things to keep in mind:
For these estimated prices, we searched for the least expensive combination of flights (least expensive departing and returning flights) from each airport to Orlando. We also searched for the most expensive combination of flights. These flights might not work for you. Keep in mind that these flights might not be at convenient times for you, they might have a few stops and layovers, etc.
For flights on Southwest Airlines, we only looked at the “Wanna Get Away” tickets.
For all other airlines, we used Google Flights to get the estimated prices. The price of your flight could be different once you go to book it on the actual airline’s website or use other travel websites.
We did our best to limit our flight selections to ones that arrive on the same day of their departure.
All of these ticket prices are for 1 person.
