Pay-Per-Ride Sales Had a Multi-Hour DELAY in Disney World Today

Disney World recently launched its new planning tool, Genie, in the My Disney Experience app.

The tool is free to use and can help you plan your day in the parks. Also launched with Genie was Disney Genie+, which is a paid replacement for FastPass+. Genie+ gives you access to make reservations to skip the standby lines of 46 attractions in Disney World through the Lightning Lanes (old FastPass lanes). There are also Lightning Lanes at certain high demand rides that are not included in Genie+, but instead, access to the lines is able to be individually purchased. But, this morning we experienced something a bit odd with the pay-per-ride system.

Individual Lightning Lane sales were paused this morning for an unknown reason. Before we even opened My Disney Experience this morning, we got this message in our notifications.

Delayed Sales Message

Then, when we did open My Disney Experience and went to Disney Genie, we were given an extended version of the message. It said that sales were planned to resume at 9:30AM and Genie+ sales and selections have not been impacted by this delay.

Delayed Sales Message

But, 9:30AM came around, and we were still receiving the message that Individual Lightning Lane sales were not available. Luckily, a little before 10AM, we tried the app again and Individual Lightning Lane sales were back!

We’re not sure what the reason was for the delay, but just be prepared that this could happen to you in Disney World during your trip, so have a backup plan, like rope dropping one of these popular rides instead. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World news and updates!
