We’re back for our weekly roundup of construction updates from Disney World!
2021 has definitely been a busy year when it comes to construction around the parks and resorts, but Disney’s not done just yet! There’s plenty more to come in 2022 (including a brand new attraction) and there’s still a lot to fix up in between! So, we’re bringing you a look at all the latest updates — let’s get to it!
Magic Kingdom
TRON: Lightcycle Run
Disney is making progress on Magic Kingdom’s newest roller coaster, TRON: Lightcycle Run every day! Last week, we noticed that a structure next to the track had started to be closed in…
…and now it’s just about done! There’s still a lot more work to be done here on the canopies outside, but we’re starting to see this attraction really come together.
There’s been no word on when the ride might open just yet, so it could be a little while longer before we get to hop on our light cycle and race around the track.
EPCOT
World Nature
A lot of EPCOT is under construction right now as the park undergoes a massive transformation, but we’re also noticing some smaller projects taking place throughout the park too. For example, over in World Nature (or what was formerly known as the Imagination Pavilion), a small portion of the pavement was marked up.
The improvements seem to be mid-process, but this certainly isn’t the first time that we’ve seen Disney make some refurbishments to the pavement in a park in an effort to ensure guests’ safety as they walk around.
The Seas
And, over near The Seas With Nemo and Friends, one of the water beds was completely drained.
Disney routinely drains these water beds to do minor refurbishments throughout the year, so we expect that it will be filled up once again soon.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
DinoLand U.S.A.
It’s been a little while since we’ve checked in on construction progress over at DinoLand, U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! The former ride, Primeval Whirl, was completely demolished earlier this fall and now the area is blocked off with a full fence along with some additional construction barriers.
We spoke with a Cast Member who told us that there have been no official plans shared for what this area may become. So, for now, it’s a great spot to rest mid-day or park your stroller while you take advantage of the other attractions in DinoLand.
Disney Resorts
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
We’ve been bringing you a lot of updates from Disney’s BoardWalk Inn as Disney works to refurbish the walkways surrounding the hotel, but this week we also noticed that there was something being done to the wave building. A portion of the exterior looked as though it was in the middle of being touched up, so we’ll keep an eye out to see what the finished product looks like!
And, that’s it for all the construction updates from this week! Be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more of the latest updates on what’s coming to (and leaving) Disney World soon!
