PHOTOS: The Guardians of the Galaxy Ride in Disney World Reaches a BIG Milestone and MORE!

It’s that time of the week where we take a look at all the construction progress that has been made around Disney World!

Magic Kingdom

This week we have a BIG update from the highly-anticipated roller coaster in EPCOT plus some smaller things that you might notice as you make your way around the parks. So, let’s get right to it!

EPCOT

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

We’ve been keeping track of all the progress that Disney has made on the new indoor roller coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. And, while we can’t see what’s inside just yet, we did get to see the first sign that this is a Marvel attraction arrive this week! From high up above on the monorail, you can see that the Nova Corps star has been added to the middle of the entrance area and a new awning is up!

Disney World Imagineer, Zach Riddley, shared a closer look at the new addition on his Instagram page, saying that “the first sign of Xandar’s arrival to EPCOT appeared at the Wonders of Xandar pavilion.” The coloring on the star is unique, as it appears differently based on how the sun is hitting it or from what angle you’re looking at it!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is set to open sometime in Summer 2022, so we’ll probably be seeing even more progress here soon!

Coral Reef Restaurant

The new roller coaster isn’t the only spot to have some construction going on right now in EPCOT — we also noticed that the pavement was being redone outside of Coral Reef Restaurant.

Some pavement work going on here!

Only select portions of the ground were blocked off, so there is still plenty of room to walk around as you make your way into or out of the park or head on in for a meal!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Restaurantosaurus

Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the construction walls that once surrounded the back patio at Restaurantosaurus are gone and it is now open to guests once again!

Work is complete back here!

But, work here isn’t done just yet, as construction walls can still be found near the entrance.

Still ongoing here!

The Quick Service spot is open throughout the refurbishments though, so you can still stop in to grab a burger, salad, chicken nuggets, or whatever else you’re craving from the menu!

Disney Resorts

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Disney’s Art of Animation has been receiving some TLC for quite some time now and the exterior renovation has made A LOT of progress recently! The buildings have been receiving a fresh coat of paint to make these colorful buildings even more vibrant.

The buildings are getting a refresh!

We did notice that some of the little details that could once be found on the coral designs in the Finding Nemo section are missing now. Bit, this is still a work in progress, so we’ll keep an eye out for any other changes that we spot as more is painted!

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

And, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn is still a land of construction walls as Disney continues work on replacing the gravel walkways around the resort. So, for now, your holiday photos might have a different background than you were expecting, though Disney has tried to spruce it up a bit with 50th-anniversary banners!

Construction continues

That’s it for this week’s construction update! We’re always on the lookout for what has changed around Disney World, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest!
