Another baby white rhino has been born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This is the third white rhino born at the park in the past 13 months and the thirteenth born at Walt Disney World.
Mother Lola delivered a healthy female calf in early November.
In the wild, rhinoceros are hunted for their horns and their populations continue to dwindle. The Disney Conservation Fund supports projects focused on habitat monitoring and restoration.
Rhinos are the world’s second-largest land mammal. They have a gestation period of 16 to 18 months and babies weigh about 140 pounds at birth.
Lola and her calf will bond backstage for several months before joining the herd on the Harambe Wildlife Reserve. The first of the three recent calves, Ranger, can be seen during Kilimanjaro Safaris.
