Review: Food SO GOOD It’s the ONLY Thing On The Menu at This Disney World Spot.

Some Disney World dining spots are known for a signature dish, or at the very least a specialty dish that you know you can order there. If you love steak, there’s Le Cellier in EPCOT, and if you love Southern comfort food, there’s Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ in Disney Springs.

U.K. Pavilion

If your dish of choice is Fish and Chips, however, you may already know about Yorkshire County Fish Shop, located in the U.K. Pavilion in World Showcase. If you’re unfamiliar, however, allow us to introduce you to what could very well be your new go-to counter service dining location when visiting EPCOT (It’s so good it got its own Minnie ears!).

Atmosphere

Like all of World Showcase dining, Yorkshire County Fish Shop feels like you’re not in Central Florida, but in a different continent altogether! Instead of EPCOT, you’re transported to a quaint village somewhere in the middle of the United Kingdom.

Yorkshire County Fish Shop

The dreary, overcast skies that were there on the day we visited totally helped to set the scene.

United Kingdom Pavilion

Yorkshire County Fish Shop only has a walk-up window with tables in the surrounding pavilion (this is a great spot if you want a waterfront view of World Showcase Lagoon!). You’ll find the shop to the right of Rose and Crown Pub closest to the International Gateway.

Walk-up line for Yorkshire County Fish Shop

Their specialty is, you guessed it, Fish and Chips. It’s literally in the name!

Condiments are available at your disposal, including Malt Vinegar (that’s how you know this is a legit Fish and Chips shop!).

Show of hands: who prefers their Fish and Chips with Malt Vinegar?

Tartar Sauce and Ketchup are also available as pairings for your meal.

Condiments

The menu at Yorkshire County Fish Shop has zero surprises, and it’s actually quite small!

Menu

When we say “simplicity is key” at Yorkshire County Fish Shop, we mean it! Here is their entire menu:

It fits on just one board as you walk up to the order window! On occasion, they serve up pasties or other entree options, but they’re often for a limited time — be sure to check for temporary items when you order!

Small but simple!

While you could order at the window, we chose to use Mobile Order on our recent visit.

Food

Can you guess what we ordered for food? We’ll give you one guess. Yep, you’re correct; we ordered the Fish and Chips for $11.49. When in Rome…or in this case, the U.K..

Fish and Chips

“Chips” in the United Kingdom is actually the word used to describe French Fries, so that’s what comes as a side! They’re some of the best fast-food fries in Disney World. The shoestring classic fast-food fries found at practically every other joint in Disney World are absent here in favor of a heartier fry — thick cut steak fries actually fried up crispy (NO soggy fries here!).

Fish and Chips

Our order came with a BIG piece of fish which we found to have a mild and slightly sweet flavor. It wasn’t too heavily breaded so we didn’t feel as if our lunch was going to weigh us down; however, it was a bit on the greasy side (not an issue, but just something to be aware of!). It was very crispy and overall delicious as always — an EPCOT staple! The batter is a wet batter, so it fries up ULTRA crisp. The fish is a mild white fish with practically no fishy taste. Fish lovers and haters alike should enjoy this (seriously — we’ve seen total fish-haters inhale this fish!).

Fish and Chips

We enjoyed ours with some Tartar Sauce! Tip for those heading into Rose and Crown — you can get the same fish and chips inside with a catch. In the walk-in pub portion of Rose and Crown, you’ll find the fish and chips for a pricier $13. The Dining Room part of Rose and Crown has the fish and chips for $25, only the portion comes with two pieces of fish if you’re in the sit-down restaurant. So basically three options to get this fish but, if you’re just looking for one piece and some fries (plenty for one person!) Yorkshire is probably your best bet.

Tasty!

For our beverage, we ordered the Harp Lager for $9.25. There are Bass or Harp beers served here (much like in Rose and Crown) for those looking for a pint to wash it down.

Harp Lager

Harp is a crisp and refreshing lighter beer. It’s great if you want to sip on as you walk around World Showcase, especially on a hot Florida day. Obviously, it’s a great pairing with Fish and Chips, and it’s a good option for those who don’t typically go for a beer but want to enjoy something “local” in the U.K. Pavilion.

Harp Lager

Overall, this was a totally delightful lunch on our trip around EPCOT!

Lunch with a view!

Not everyone subscribes to Fish and Chips with a crisp, cold beer as their ideal lunch, however, so let’s review who exactly would enjoy a trip to Yorkshire County Fish Shop!

Nosh or Not?

Hop over the pond and stroll up to Yorkshire County Fish Shop if…

  • You LOVE Fish and Chips. If you’re going to have it while in Disney World, you really should have it here.
  • You’re looking for something quick and on-the-go.
  • You don’t want to break the bank on your lunch or dinner.

Skip and keep on walking through World Showcase if…

  • You don’t like Fish and Chips. It’s really the only food option on the menu, so unless you’re stopping for a beer, there won’t be much for you to dine on.
  • You want to sit back and relax as you eat. There’s limited outdoor seating available in the U.K. Pavilion, and if you’re visiting on a busy day, you may have a hard time finding a table.
  • You want to avoid fried foods. Again, it’s really the only option here.

Overall

The fact that Yorkshire County Fish Shop has kept their menu so small and simple over the years is likely one of the reasons why it’s a sure bet every time we eat here. They’ve all but perfected the art of Fish and Chips, so if that’s your jam, then you won’t be disappointed! World Showcase is filled with so many other types of restaurants and cuisines too so we can’t even be upset that their menu really only offers one dish. It says something that with ALL of the food in EPCOT, we still stop by here often, even when we’re not here to review the food!

If you’re making your way around World Showcase and looking for a quick bite to eat, this is totally one of the top counter service picks. If you aren’t into seafood, however, you’ll want to keep on walking and find another option (or give it a shot because, like we said, this is fish to convert the most anti-fish eaters in your crew!). Nearby Pavilions include France with quick service options like Les Halles as well as the walk-up window at La Crêperie de Paris. As far as other fish and chips in Disney World, really the only other big game in town is Raglan Road or Cookes of Dublin in Disney Springs — both of which serve up large, delicious fish similar to this (they even have gluten-free batter options!).

That’ll do it from Yorkshire County Fish Shop! Be sure to follow along for more of the latest dining reviews from the parks and resorts.
