Happy holidays from Disney World! The holiday season is in full swing with the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays and Very Merriest After Hours going on, which means there’s also plenty of holiday crowds.
However, Genie+, the new paid FastPass replacement, is getting a MAJOR change for the holiday season that should help with those crowds!
From December 19th to January 3rd, one Individual Attraction Selection (A.K.A. pay-per-ride) attraction from each park will be included with the cost of Genie+!
The attractions are as follows: Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom, Frozen Ever After in EPCOT, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Expedition Everest in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Remember, you’ll still have to pay $15 per person per day to get Genie+, which gets you access to Lightning Lane reservations for these four attractions along with 46 other rides and experiences! Four rides (Rise of the Resistance, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Flight of Passage) will still be part of the Individual Attraction Selection service, meaning they are separate from Genie+ and their Lightning Lanes are individually priced (we have a full explanation of the difference between IAS and Genie+ here).
This change could potentially help to decrease holiday crowds and continue to shorten wait times for popular attractions, preventing that holiday crowd burnout that happens during this time of year.
This morning, we checked the Tip Board on My Disney Experience and saw Space Mountain…
…Frozen Ever After…
…Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway…
…and Expedition Everest were all marked as Disney Genie+! Previously, these attractions would’ve been labeled as Individual Lighting Lanes to symbolize that they’re separate from Genie+. When we bought Genie+, it originally had most of these new rides greyed out. We checked back in about 30 minutes and then were able to book them — hopefully it was just a glitch for the first day of this change!
Just to make sure, we went ahead and grabbed some Lightning Lane reservations for the day! We were able to get Frozen Ever After…
…and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway! Although these were readily available in the morning, be sure to grab these Lightning Lane reservation quick!
Remember, you only have until January 3rd, 2022 to take advantage of this change (after that, these four attractions will go back to being pay-per-ride). We’re always keeping up with the latest Disney news, so stay tuned here for more!
