The Best Disney Movies to Get You in the Holiday Spirit

Many of my family holiday traditions revolve around movies that get us in the holiday spirit and make us happy. For my mom and me, Hello Dolly is what we’d watch to kick off the season. After watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, we’d throw on Hello Dolly, sing our hearts out and start cooking dinner. It always puts us in the mood for the holidays. Movies can make an impact to the point that they can become part of family traditions, can’t they? Here’s a list of a few movies, shows, and specials that can be found on Disney+ this holiday season that you and your family can enjoy. These holiday movies, shows, and specials can be found under Disney+’s “Holiday Movies and Specials” section on the streaming service.

Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas

Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas is a classic. I used to watch this each holiday season. I enjoyed this movie because it included Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Daisy, and Pluto. This movie consists of three stories from Christmas past. Another timeless Christmas movie that stars Mickey Mouse is Mickey’s Christmas Carol. This movie is a Disneyfied version of the Charles Dickens classic Christmas story.

Beauty and the Beast The Enchanted Christmas

Beauty and the Beast is my all-time favorite movie, so it is no surprise that I love this Christmas movie. It’s beautiful to see our beloved characters back together celebrating the holidays in the enchanted castle. There is a plot twist in the story; I don’t want to spoil it for any of you, but there is a new villain that was not in the original animated film. This movie touches on friendship, love, and family. The holiday season is all about sharing love and happiness with your loved ones, which makes this the perfect holiday movie.

Santa Clause (1,2 and 3)

The Santa Clause movies have always been a staple because the films mix comedy and Christmas magic together. Tim Allen stars in the films and plays a divorced dad that somehow becomes the new Santa. Another classic that you can now find on Disney+ is Home Alone. I know for many people this is a holiday favorite. A new Disney+ original Home Sweet Home Alone, part of the beloved Home Alone franchise, is now available for the holiday season as well. This group of movies is for families that enjoy mixing comedy with Christmas. Another Disney+ original is Noelle. I watched this movie last holiday season; even though it was cheesy, I still really enjoyed the movie. I thought it was cute. Noelle is a movie to watch with family, especially the little ones.

Decorating Disney: Holiday Magic

If Christmas movies aren’t your jam, but you love to see how the Disney parks transform for each holiday season, then this is for you. Decorating Disney is a one-hour holiday special that takes you behind the scenes to see how the parks transform overnight into a winter wonderland, or as Disney calls it, “the Merriest Place on Earth.” I love watching this special each year because it always amazes me how this transformation happens overnight. The amount of people and equipment it takes to make this happen is just phenomenal. It’s just beautiful to see Magic Kingdom transition from Halloween to Christmas, and it always leaves me speechless.

The holiday season is such a great time of year to bake some cookies and throw on a movie that sets the mood for the holiday season. Disney+ now has so many options for holiday movies, and as I mentioned, these movies can be found in a section labeled “Holiday Movies and Specials” on the streaming platform.
