The Million Dollar Question: Should a Disney World Brownie Be Cakey or Fudgy

Happy holidays from Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort! This rustic, pioneer-themed hotel is known for its wide array of delicious treats and a fun atmosphere, especially during the holiday season.

Fort Wilderness

Today, we’re trying a treat that may spark a bit of debate at P&J’s Southern Takeout, one of the dining locations at Fort Wilderness.

The Chocolate Turtle Brownie is a Chocolate Brownie with Caramel, Walnuts, and Chocolate Chips, available for $4.29!  Despite being very chocolatey, this treat has a surprisingly balanced flavor and isn’t overly sweet. Plus, it helps that these brownies come in pretty hefty portions.

The Turtle Brownie!

Why might it spark a brownie debate? Well, it’s not very brownie-like per se — it’s more like a cake! It doesn’t have the fudgy some love when it comes to a brownie. We also thought it was a bit on the dry side and it’s a bit crumbly. The caramel sauce definitely helps with the dryness but there’s simply not enough to save this treat from being dry.

Inside the Brownie

If you’re looking for a fudgy brownie, this one may not be for you. We always like to mention that this may have just been a dry batch. So yours may be fudgier. Ours just simply wasn’t. Or maybe, you like your brownies more cakey?! If so, then this treat is a great option!

If you’re looking for something a bit more whimsical, we recommend the Chicken Dinner Trio Cupcakes from P&J’s Southern Takeout. It’s a fun spin on cupcakes and a great 50th Anniversary treat!

If you’re looking for a more…brownie-like…brownie, head over to the Regal Eagle Smokehouse in EPCOT and try the S’mores Brownie, you won’t be disappointed! It’s a fun spin on a brownie and it’s not as dry as the Turtle Brownie.
