We always look forward to the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays at Walt Disney World. It’s fun to try as many of the delicious new dishes at the Holiday Kitchens that are sprinkled throughout the park.
If you are a big fan of the Holiday season, the Festival of the Holidays is not-to-be-missed. Visitors at EPCOT can enjoy the holiday traditions of the 11 World Showcase nations as they’re surrounded by the sights, sounds, and flavors of the season. There is live music, seasonal food & beverage specialties, and the Candlelight Processional that takes place several times each evening.
Today, we are taking a look at two dishes from the Bavaria Holiday Kitchen that Craig had the chance to try out. Read on to see what he thought of each one!
First up is the Pork Schnitzel with Mushroom Sauce, Spätzle, and Braised Red Cabbage. Craig thought the Pork Schnitzel was flavorful and well-seasoned but said that it was extremely dry and chewy. The Spätzle and Red Cabbage complimented the flavor from the pork very well. He mentioned that he wouldn’t try this one again. The dish was $6.25.
The next dish he tried was the Cheese Fondue in a Bread Bowl with Steamed Baby Vegetables and Marble Potatoes. He said the Cheese Fondue was absolutely delicious. The blend of alpine cheeses may be slightly stinky to people who don’t care for Swiss cheese, but it is creamy and tastes amazing with the vegetables and bread.
It would be nice to get more vegetables than one carrot, two pieces of zucchini, and a few potatoes. However, the bread bowl is very shallow and there’s not enough cheese to even finish off the bread. Even with the cheese issue, he would get it again. This menu item cost $8.25.
