A Returning Disney Program is Celebrating Its 15th Anniversary in a Big Way

Disney works with students from all around the world in a number of ways. With initiatives like the Disney College Program and the Disney Culinary Program and events like Grad Nite (which is coming back to Disneyland this year!), there are a number of ways students can get involved or otherwise celebrate occasions in Disney.

Today, we’ve got some big announcements about this year’s Disney Dreamers Academy summit and what Disney has in store for this year’s students!

The Disney Dreamers Academy is a program that focuses on naturing, fostering, and developing the “career aspirations” of students from around the country, particularly Black students and those in underrepresented communities. The Dreamers Academy has now selected its 100 students for this year’s summit, which will take place on March 3rd through 6th in a modified format at Disney World.

But this is no ordinary year for the program — it’s actually its 15th year of operation and they’re working to bring back the program with a reimagined approach.

According to Disney this year will feature “an array of new immersions.” This year’s four-day summit will feature networking opportunities, workshops, mentorship connections, and introductions to potential career opportunities in collaboration with the Walt Disney Company and more.

Also, as part of a new initiative, the Disney Dreamer Academy, with the help of The Undefeated and rap artist Cordae, is also giving scholarships to 11 students from underrepresented communities who are about to begin their college careers at Historically Black Colleges & Universities.

On top of all the enriching opportunities at the summit, students also get an all-expenses-paid trip to Disney World with one of their parents/guardians.

According to Disney’s press release, “Since 2008, Disney Dreamers Academy has inspired more than 1,300 students from across the country by fueling their dreams and showing them a world of possibilities as they prepare for their futures. In the years following, graduates have gone on to become doctors, nurses, engineers, pilots, journalists and more, and have transitioned into mentors to the Disney Dreamers who follow them, including event speaker Princeton Parker (Class of 2011), who is now a Disney cast member.”

It’s a big year for the program as it celebrates its 15th year. We’ll continue to look for updates about this program and we’ll let you know what we find.
