Disney Cruise Line has been updating their health and safety procedures since cruising resumed after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Perhaps the biggest update came when Disney Cruise Line began mandating that all guests who are vaccine eligible based on age must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to sail.
Back in November, the CDC approved the use of the COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 and up. In response to this updated guidance, Disney Cruise Line adjusted their vaccine policy to include this age group. At the time, Disney announced that their latest vaccine mandate would go into effect on January 13th.
That means that as of today, January 13th, all guests who are vaccine eligible based on age (which as of this writing is ages 5 and up) must now be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the time of sailing. As of this writing, “fully vaccinated” means that an individual has received two doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or one does of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Before today, guests ages 5 through 11 could “provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result taken between 3 days and 24 hours of their sail date” instead of providing proof of vaccination. However, a negative COVID-19 test will no longer be sufficient for this age group, and guests ages 5 through 11 must now be fully vaccinated, along with all guests ages 12 and above. Guests ages 4 and younger will still need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test for all upcoming cruises.
We’ll continue to keep a close watch on the latest health and safety measurements from Disney Cruise Line. If you have an upcoming sailing, be sure to follow along to keep with all of the news and announcements.
