FREE COVID-19 At-Home Tests Now Available

To ensure we are equipping our readers with all the information they need, we will continue to report on all travel, safety, and COVID-related news that could impact a Disney Parks visit.

The global pandemic continues as the Omicron variant of COVID-19 is spreading throughout the world.

Places like Florida have broken case records over the past month, there have been travel restrictions and advisories put into place, and thousands of flights have been canceled due to the spreading of Omicron. But, people in the United States can now order free at-home COVID-19 tests from the government, and we’re here to tell you how.

Every home in the United States is eligible to order 4 free at-home COVID-19 tests. The tests are completely free and orders will usually ship in 7 to 12 days.

To order the tests, simply go to COVIDtests.gov and hit “Order Free At-Home Tests” you will be redirected to the United States Postal Office website, where you can enter your contact and shipping information and then place your order.

There is a limit of one order per residential address and the order includes 4 individual rapid antigen COVID-19 tests.

The tests available for order:

  • Are rapid antigen at-home tests, not PCR
  • Can be taken anywhere
  • Give results within 30 minutes (no lab drop-off required)
  • Work whether or not you have COVID-⁠19 symptoms
  • Work whether or not you are up to date on your COVID-⁠19 vaccines
  • Are also referred to self-tests or over-the-counter (OTC) tests

You should take an at-home COVID-19 test if:

  • You begin having symptoms like fever, sore throat, runny nose, or loss of taste or smell, or
  • At least 5 days after you come into close contact with someone with COVID-⁠19, or
  • When you’re going to gather with a group of people, especially those who are at risk of severe disease or may not be up to date on their COVID-⁠19 vaccines.

If you are looking for a different type of COVID-19 test or need more than 4 tests, you can check out the “Other Testing Resources” section of the COVIDtests.gov website that includes information on at-home tests at retailers and pharmacies, insurance reimbursement for at-home tests, and testing sites around the country.
