According to KCRA News, Hawaii, the home to Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, may soon require all visitors to have a COVID-19 booster shot for entry to the islands.

Hawaii Governor, David Ige, stated that his office is strongly considering changing their “fully vaccinated” definition from two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine to three doses, including the booster shot.

Travelers who do not have their booster shots will have to isolate for five days upon arrival to Hawaii.

As of right now, only American travelers can visit Hawaii with very few exceptions for international tourists. Tourism is regulated through the state’s Safe Travels program, where travelers can upload their vaccination records to the online portal ahead of their flight.

“We know that the community needs time to react to that, so we would have to provide at least two weeks for those who may not be up to date to go to have the opportunity to go and get vaccinated if they need to,” Ige told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, the state’s largest newspaper.

Ige also further stated that pending this vaccination requirement update, they would give travelers several weeks notice, so that they will not be impacted by the updated requirement.
