Deadline and Nielsen are reporting that eleven of the top fifteen films streamed in 2021 all came from Disney+, while one show made the top fifteen original shows list. Notable contenders at the top include “Luca” and “Raya and the Last Dragon”.
The data only includes programs viewed on TVs, not on mobile devices. But hits from 2021 as well as recent classics topped the list. In first place was Pixar’s “Luca”, with over 10.5 billion minutes watched through the year. Second was 2016’s “Moana” at 8.9 billion minutes, and third place goes to the 2021 Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Raya and the Last Dragon” at 8.34 billion minutes.
Also making the list from Disney+ in order were “Frozen 2”, “Frozen”, “Soul”, “Cruella”, “Jungle Cruise”, “Black Widow”, “Coco”, and “Avengers: Endgame”.
Meanwhile, “WandaVision” was the only Disney+ original to crack the top 15 shows streamed, in 14th place with 7.82 billion minutes. Netflix largely topped that list with hits like “Lucifer”, “Squid Game”, and the “Great British Baking Show”. Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” also made 10th place.
