D23 Expo 2022 is just around the corner, taking place at the Anaheim Convention Center on September 9 – 11. The event is the absolute biggest Disney fan convention and something that needs to be experienced to truly understand. Tickets for the event go on sale on January 20, 2022, exclusively for D23 Gold and General Members.
The official sponsor of this year’s D23 Expo is Visa – the “Official Way to Pay at D23 Expo,” and cardholders will have access to special benefits and one-of-a-kind experiences. One of those benefits is an exclusive presale for Visa cardholders who are also D23 Members starting on January 19, at 10:00 am PT, and then all guests on January 20 at 12:00 pm PT.
Three different tickets will be available for the event at multiple price points. D23 Gold Members can purchase 1-Day Tickets for $89 for adults and $79 for children as well as 3-Day Tickets for $229 for adults and $209 for children. D23 General Members can purchase 1-Day Tickets for $99 for adults and $79 for children as well as 3-Day Tickets for $279 for adults and $209 for children. Replacing the Sorcerer’s Pass in 2022 will be the D23 Gold Member Exclusive Hall D23 Preferred Seating pass. This pass will cost $899 and will give you the best seats in Hall D23, which usually has the biggest panels like the Disney Legends, movie and Disney+ panels featuring celebrities, and the Disney Parks panel. This pass will be available in limited quantities, so act quickly if you want it.
The expo will be kicking off the 100th-anniversary celebration of The Walt Disney Company, so we can expect all of Disney’s biggest properties like Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars to be featured during the weekend. The logo and D23 Expo artwork is even inspired by the Disney100 celebration, featuring Mickey Mouse with a platinum look. More than 50 shows, presentations, and panels will be happening throughout multiple stages, including the Disney Legends Award Ceremony and the Mousequerade costume contest.
This year’s Mousequerade will be hosted by Nina West, and Yvette Nicole Brown, Ashley Eckstein, and Ally Maki will appear as judges. The contest will feature categories like “Off the Screen,” “Imagine That!,” “Magical Mashups,” and “Cast of Characters,” as well as a fan-favorite award and a “Best in Show” prize of $2,300.
The Walt Disney Archives always brings interesting artifacts to D23 Expo and this year will be no exception. In partnership with Amazon, D23 Expo and the Walt Disney Archives are going to restore Walt Disney’s Gulfstream airplane and transport it to Anaheim. The plane is currently backstage at Walt Disney World and the last time you could publicly see it was part of the Studio Backlot Tour at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. All guests will be able to see it on display in an exhibit called Mickey Mouse One: Walt’s Plane presented by Amazon.
What else can we expect from D23 Expo 2022? The massive show floor full of immersive experiences, shopping, and other special opportunities will be returning. StagePass will be returning, guaranteeing entry to select panels, but standby lines will also be available as well. Performances, appearances, and demonstrations will appear on the main show floor D23 Expo Live! Stage. Plus, D23 Expo always has a few unannounced surprises in store with sneak peeks at what’s to come with Disney!
D23 Expo 2022 is expecting to have a similar attendance size as the last event in 2019, so if you want to be one of the tens of thousands in attendance, pick up your tickets as quickly as possible to be part of the D23 Expo fun!
Guests who aren’t able to attend the event will have a chance to watch select panels at home with D23 Expo Live, similar to how the Destination D23 even was streamed. No details have been released about which panels will be streamed.
