When it comes to planning your trip to a Disney Park, there’s one unpredictable thing that could seriously impact it — the weather.
When it comes to the weather, Disney has very little control of how things play out. For example, we’ve seen storms shut down rides at Disney World. But now, Disney’s West Coast park, Disneyland, is under a different kind of weather advisory.
According to the Orange County Register, a Tsunami Advisory has been issued for the U.S. West Coast, including San Diego County and Orange County (the county Disneyland resides in). This comes after an undersea volcano erupted in the Pacific Ocean near Tonga, which triggered large tsunami waves.
**A Tsunami Advisory has been issued for the U.S. West Coast, including San Diego County and Orange County. Arrival time of waves: 7:50 AM this morning**
A tsunami capable of producing strong currents hazardous to swimmers, boats, and coastal structures is expected.

The arrival of waves is expected around 7:50AM PST this morning, according to the National Weather Service. As a result, Orange County beaches have been closed as a precautionary measure. Although Disneyland is not located directly near the shore, its county could be affected by hazardous large waves (and many Disneyland guests will often make the trek to a California beach when visiting, so they’ll need to know about this advisory).
The state of Hawaii, where Disney’s Aulani Resort is located, is also under a tsunami warning. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has already reported massive waves in the area. However, no damage has been reported yet and there is only mild flooding.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on weather-related events and their impact on Disney Parks, so stay tuned for more.
