Universal Studios Japan and Japan Airlines (also known as JAL) have teamed up to create a special wrapping for the next year featuring the park’s wide slew of characters, including Mario, Harry Potter, the Sesame Street friends, and many more!
The USJ Jet is an Embraer E190 and flies as part of J-Air, JAL’s regional commuter airline. The registration is JA252J and contains 95 seats. This particular jet was also used as Universal Studios Japan’s Minion Jet from 2019 to 2020.
Inside, headrests featuring characters like Mario, the Minions, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Jaws, and a T-Rex adorn every seat.
All beverages are also served in special commemorative paper cups.
And a special random gift featuring the jet’s design and one of six Universal Studios Japan characters will be given out to all passengers. The plane is expected to fly routes from Osaka Itami Airport to regional cities across Japan, such as Misawa, Fukuoka, Hakodate, and Kumamoto. A full list of routes that the jet will serve is available on the JAL website. Operations with this particular wrapping will end in March 2023.
While it’s not likely that you’ll get a run-in with this jet flying from Tokyo to Osaka, those visiting smaller locations in Japan are certainly in for a treat! Are you interested in flying aboard the USJ Jet? Let us know in the comments below!
