PHOTOS: New Years Day Crowds Are NOT What We Expected in Disney World

The New Year is here, and after staying up until midnight to ring it all in, we’re ready to party like it’s 2022!

Happy New Year!

Apparently a lot of other people had the same idea as us — we’re in Disney World today to see how busy the parks are on New Year’s Day as the holiday season comes to a close.

We were also in the parks yesterday for New Year’s Eve, so we had wondered how busy the parks would be the morning after the big countdown! The parks have been pretty busy this past week following the Christmas holiday, so let’s see how much of that business has stuck around into the new year.

Heading in!

At around 8:55AM, there was a steady stream of people filing into Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

We see some people!

It’s pretty common for certain areas of Hollywood Studios to appear crowded while other areas may look completely empty. Was that going to be the case on January 1st?

We made it in? Where to first?

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster was down again this morning, so the area around Sunset Boulevard wasn’t especially crowded first thing in the morning.

Sunset Boulevard: not too bad at around 9:45AM!

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway was also pretty empty!

Pretty empty over here!

Like we said earlier, though, Hollywood Studios can be deceiving. Some areas may look like this…

Some places can look EMPTY!

…while others are WAY more crowded! Take a look at the massive line for Star Wars Rise of the Resistance!

Most crowded part of the park?

Galaxy’s Edge was a little more congested than most other parts of the park.

Galaxy’s Edge is hoppin!

As you can see, the crowds seemed to disperse throughout the park, but the popular attractions will always be the most crowded. Be sure to follow all year long for more of the latest news and update from Disney World! We’re in the parks every day bringing you all of the important tips and tricks you need to plan the perfect vacation. Happy New Year!🥳
