Splash Mountain in Magic Kingdom is now closed for a standard winter refurbishment. This closure is not for the ride’s “The Princess and the Frog” reimagining, but just routine maintenance that it undergoes every year or two. It is expected to reopen on February 11.
The attraction is now surrounded by construction walls and scrim.
Signs on the walls say “Splash Mountain is closed for a spell.”
The ride has already been partially drained of water.
We saw a few crew members working this morning.
Scaffolding is back up on the mountain where we had previously seen some in the fall.
You can see where the water level usually sits based on the fading and erosion of set pieces.
Some construction materials were sitting in the water awaiting use.
Blue tubes used during the draining process were visible.
A ladder sat next to one cliff face.
This sign also reads “Have a zip-a-dee-doo-dah day!”
All entrances and exits are blocked off.
This includes the exit at Splashdown Photos.
The extended queue is roped off and eerily empty.
