Disney World’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park has FINALLY reopened! After being closed since the parks initially shut down in March of 2020, Typhoon Lagoon is reopening today. Blizzard Beach Water Park reopened in March of 2021, but has now closed again for refurbishment.
Disney recently announced Typhoon’s reopening along with some new snacks at the park, including the return of one of our favorite Dole Whip creations! We’re here at Typhoon Lagoon to check out everything new and returning at the park, ready to take on the wave pool and some delicious food, so come along with us!
Entering the Water Park
We’re back! We’re back! We can’t believe we get to go into Typhoon Lagoon after almost 2 years. When we drove there early this morning, though, we saw the road sign still showed it as closed.
But it’s not! And when we got to the parking lot, we noticed about 4 1/2 rows of cars were already parked before us.
Walking into the park, though, we also saw a pretty solid number of guests in line to buy tickets.
We also saw a pretty solid number of guests entering the park, too.
And let’s just say, today’s weather is PERFECT for a water park.
Once we were inside the park, we noticed that some guests had already taken to the water!
Health and Safety
Like everywhere at Disney World, all guests ages 2 and up must wear a mask while indoors. If you forget your mask, you can grab a free one outside the bathrooms.
Just look for the sign indicating Disney World’s mask policy and you’ll see the masks in an attached basket.
Attractions
In case you hadn’t noticed, Typhoon Lagoon — like just about everything at Disney World — has a fun theme. The setting is that of a tropical island paradise that got hit by a typhoon that ended up slinging all kinds of ships, surfboards, submarines, and more onto the island.
And at its center is Miss Tilly!
Typhoon Lagoon is home to North America’s largest wave pool! It’s so big, you can even learn to surf in it.
One of the most thrilling slides here is the Crush ’n’ Gusher, which is a coaster-like raft ride with fun dips and turns. Humunga Kowabunga has closed body slides that drops you 5 stories in the dark! Little ones can play at Ketchakiddee Creek, which has a water playground with small water slides, water cannons, and more.
Castaway Creek is the park’s lazy river. It goes around the entirety of Typhoon Lagoon, through shady grottoes and thundering waterfalls!
As you can see, the creek was pretty chill this morning — very few guests were there when we visited.
Dining
If you need to know what time snack spots open, there’s a handy board available giving you all the hours you’ll need.
Snack Shack
There are some new snacks to check out at Typhoon Lagoon! Disney announced that there is a selection of new Dole Whips at Snack Shack, including the flavors pineapple, mango, lime, and raspberry. And, you can add tequila, coconut rum, or dark rum to your Dole Whip if you’re 21 or older.
There are also 2 new Moana character cones at the park, including the return of the Hei Hei cone that we love soooo much!
The Snack Shack will also have the Habanero Lime Galley Shack Swirl, which is a new signature cocktail with spicy habanero, sweet mango, and tangy lime flavors!
Another new offering over here are Walt’s Chili Nachos, which is a twist on the popular chili we’ve seen around Disney World for the 50th anniversary. This has Walt Disney’s beloved chili recipe with house-fried tortillas, cheese, guacamole, shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, sour cream and jalapeño.
Happy Landings
At Happy Landings, you can get the new EARidescent Ice Dream Cone!
This is a birthday cake-flavored soft-serve swirl in a white chocolate-dipped cone with EARidescent sprinkles for the 50th anniversary.
Main Change
Over at Main Change, you can find a Walt Disney World Popcorn Bucket featuring the park landmarks and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. You can also grab a 50th Anniversary Refillable Mug, which is available at all dining locations and features celebratory Disney Water Parks-inspired artwork that pays tribute to “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.”
Stay tuned, because we’ll be trying these new treats and continuing to update this post with our reviews!
