Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa, is a vacation retreat in Hawaii.
If you’re looking for a way to mix up your usual Disney World trip, you can head to this resort to get a relaxing experience that still has plenty of Disney magic. Last year, Aulani implemented some restrictions stating that only guests of the resort could dine at the resort’s restaurants. Now, there might be a new travel restriction in place soon. Here’s what Aulani has said about the potential changes so far.
Aulani recently sent an email to travel agencies notifying them that COVID-19 boosters may soon be required for travelers who want to come to Hawaii and bypass the self-quarantine mandate.
The State of Hawaii already has a mandatory quarantine in place for domestic travel within the US that requires anyone who enters the state to self-quarantine for five days. You can bypass this quarantine by proving that you’re up to date on your COVID-19 vaccination. Or, you can take a pre-travel test (up to 72 hours before the final leg of your trip) and show a negative result to bypass the quarantine in place of proving your vaccination status. Without proof of vaccination or a negative pre-travel test, you will be required to self-quarantine.
The current regulations do not require a COVID-19 booster shot, but in Aulani’s recent email, they stated that a booster might become a requirement soon. They said, “Travelers planning to utilize their vaccine status to receive an exemption to the State of Hawaii’s mandatory quarantine may be required to be up to date on their COVID-19 booster shots.”
Whether this becomes a requirement depends on if the Government of Hawaii makes those changes to Hawaii’s Safe Travels Program. As of writing (on January 26th), a COVID-19 booster is not yet required to bypass self-quarantine. We will continue to watch for changes and update this post as soon as we hear more information.
